West Village apartments are admittedly a bit overpriced for the area, and you might feel a bit more "trendy" than you really are at first. The apartments are gorgeous though and I really liked the 30 second walk to restaurants and stores in Brightleaf Square. They always seemed responsive to me and I never had any real problems with the place. Don't keep valuables lying in your car overnight, but otherwise, it's a safe area.
