The buzz is about that a less-than-favorable review of West Village has recently appeared on this site. While I do not normally do this sort of thing, I felt compelled to respond after reading that review.
I have lived at West Village for almost two years now and have been very happy to do so. Is it perfect' Definitely not. It is on the expensive end as apartments in this area go and, yes, it is in downtown Durham and has some of the problems that downtown living can present. But we have weighed these issues against living in one of many virtually identical, for the most part, cheaply constructed, boxes and have never reqretted our choice. There are still mornings when the bright sunlight is pouring through the huge windows in our home that I marvel at just how fortunate we were to discover this place.
We have met great people from all walks of life and from all over the world and made wonderful friends here. We feel that the management of the complex genuinely want to keep us here and have been very responsive to our needs. Again, does this mean that we never have a concern or a problem' Of course not, but when we do, the management has always attempted to resolve things quickly and to our satisfaction.
In conclusion, is West Village perfect' No, but I have rented and/or owned in three different countries and I have yet to find perfection. What we have found here is close enough that we think we'll stay on for a while.
