The owning company is a lier and bully. Don't rent from them.

I don't have much complaint about the apartment itself. It's not perfect. There are a number of issues. However, I strongly suggest you not to rent from it.

When I was signing the lease, I asked the saleswoman why there was an one-time fee. She told me it was the cleaning fee so that when I move out, I don't need to clean it myself.

I am not sloppy person and kept the apartment in good conditions when I moved out. I was in a hurry leaving and left some stuff to a friend in a cardboard box near the entrance. He went there a day later and found everything was gone. When I got the deposit refund, there was an $80 charge for garbage removal. Surprised, I called the office. It's for throwing the cardboard box into a trashcan. What happens to the cleaning fee'!! Does throwing a cardboard box cost $80'!!

I was unhappy but let it go. However, a year later, I received phone calls and letters from a collecting agency for the $80!!! The unfair $80 that was deducted from my deposit!!! How many times would a shameless company want to charge you for sth you paid for''' 3 times!!!

If you search "Equity Residential" and "complaint", you can find a lot of complaints and lawsuits against the apartments owned by Equity Residential.

Don't let this happen to you! Don't rent from the apartments owned by Equity Residential!
