Woods Edge is a decent place to live. I have certainly heard about worse places!
The office staff are friendly, even if they don't always return your calls. The corporate office of Babcock & Brown Residential is equally bad about returning calls, which is kind of annoying.
When we first decided to move in, we chose a 1-bedroom, 1-bath on the second floor for around $700. We signed the lease and everything. They called us and said that they didn't have the apartment they promised us available. They offered us a 1-bedroom, 1-bath on the first floor facing the parking lot, which we declined. Since we had already signed the lease, we convinced them to give us a 2-bedroom, 2-bath on the second floor facing the woods for the same rate. It was nice that they were accomodating, but they didn't exactly give us the best impression right off the bat. Thank goodness we'd already signed the lease!
They occasionally have appreciation events, but I have never been impressed. Sometimes they cancel them with nonotice so you show up to an empty room- don't expect a lot there.
The fitness center is dismal, but it still beats paying for a gym membership at a fancy club. The pool is nice, although it is always full of loud kids (many whom I doubt live in the complex).
The maintenance people are friendly and do an adaquet job, although I think the office staff sometimes has issues with communication. For example, when we first moved in I complained that our bathtub drain was clogged and the dishwasher was broken. The fixed the ub and we had to call again about the dishwasher. The apartments have very dated fixtures (I bet most of the kitchens haven't been updated in the 20 years the complex has been around), but they work.
No complaints with the neighbors- it seems to consist of a lot of families and young couples who keep to themselves. A few aggressive dogs, but that's probably the fault of their owners, not Woods Edge.
No problems with parking. It's nice that it's near a plaza with a grocery store, a bus line and many walking trails- these are some of the best things about Woods Edge!
We've lived here for almost 2 years. We didn't move even though our rent spiked exponentially after the first year just because we didn't think the cost of moving would outweigh the annoyance of having to pay more. Honestly, I think every complex has its problems. If you can afford it, go to a complex that's a little swankier or buy your own home! For the money it's decent.
