I've only lived at Briarwood a few months, and there are both good and bad qualities you would find at any apartment complex. The good things are, the office staff has always been friendly and helpful whenever I've had a problem. They have worked quickly to resolve the issue and I have always been satisfied with that. All the times I've had maintenance issues, maintenance always shows up within 2 business days, and the problem is always fixed. A few times, when I was having a major appliance problem, maintenance did not hesitate to order me a new appliance. It was really nice, to come home to new stove. Parking is good, because it's close to the building. the building I'm in is well-lit, though I have observed some other buildings that are poorly lit. I've only seen two baby roaches in all the time I've been here. I immediately called and reported it, and pest control came out the next day and sprayed. I haven't seen any vermin since.
Now for the bad. I think maybe Briarwood should screen it's tenants a little better, because A LOT of drug use goes on. I have two tenants in my building, that i KNOW are using drugs, because I can smell it when I walk past their apartments. Last week I was on my patio, when a car pulled up and let someone out. The car proceeded to wait for the person to return, and right there, in broad daylight, the car occupants start smoking a joint! I could smell it from my patio, and they made no effort to conceal it. That was a little scary! The walls are little thin, because I can hear my neighbors tv and music sometimes. It's also very noisy. The first two weeks I was here, I was ready to move, because Owen is VERY busy! I got no sleep at all. I'm talkin, ambulance sirens, police sirens, helicopters, and regular traffic noises--24/7! It never stops! After the first few weeks, I got used to it, and now it doesn't really bother me. But I have to sleep in earplugs every nite. I've also been having problems with someone trying to come into my window late at night. I've even called the police a few times, but of course by the time they arrived, the person was gone. So I nailed my windows shut. I heard about a guy in the other building, who got his door kicked in--twice within 3 months! It's very disheartening to come home and see Crime Lab vans and police cars everywhere. Turns out it was drug-related. This apartment complex itself, is not a bad place to live, but I would not recommend it to any friends of mine. The location is all wrong. It's one step up from the projects, and the rent is kind of steep, for what you get and for what you have to put up with. Word to the wise: if you DO decide to live here, get renter's insurance! It's an absolute necessity! When I moved in and saw what type area it was, i immediately lowered ALL my insurance deductibles, because I really DO expect to come home one day and find my own door kicked in.
The absoulute WORST thing about living here, is the crazy cat lady in building 12. She feeds half a dozen strays, and those cats stink to high heaven. I'm scared to walk in the grass, because there's cat poo everywhere. The cats are scrawny and mangey. Always scratching, and roaming around the grounds. I see them jumping in and out of the dumpsters. I honestly don't know why management doesn't do something about her. Those cats are a real nuisance, and now that it's getting warmer, the smell is getting worse. How hard can it be to pick up the phone and call animal control' If management doesn't do something, then people may take matters into their own hands. Enough said about that. It makes me mad, because I am paying entirely too much $ to have to deal with stinky air because management is afraid to stand up to one woman.
Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend it, and when my lease is up, I'm outta here!

I want to talk about the cat lady I really understand your point but you have to understand where everybody is coming from when you feed animals they keep coming back 3 cats is alot do u pay rent for those cats if not everybody thats paying rent for their animals need to get their money back because its not fair I have never seen so many cats in my life and this goes along with the man that lives in building 25 he has a dog and have millions of cats following him around all times of night

Hello Susan. It is nice to know your name; now I can stop referring to you as "crazy cat lady." I see no reason to confront you with this issue. I have read some other posts on this site, and I'm not the only one who feels that those cats are a nuisance, and that you should stop feeding them. I agree with the other anonymous post from 03/24. I don't have a pet, but it is not fair for those tenants who DO own pets, to have to pay that ridiculous pet fee, when you are allowed to keep so many cats--that you obviously haven't paid for. There's no way you could have paid for them all, because the apartment policy only allows two pets per apartment. You are already blatantly breaking that rule--everyone sees it. It is clear to me, that you already know you are wrong, yet, for whatever reason, you choose to continue in that trend. Yes, it is up to the management to deal with you, because you are obviously a very inconsiderate, small-minded person, who does not care how others feel. Good day.

Look I've done what you all wanted, I have stopped feeding the cats. I am neither inconsiderate or small-minded. Now if you all would just kindly leave me alone. Good day to you as well sir.
