It wasn't bad at all when I first moved in here back in January of 2004. Everyone seemed helpful, and I was blessed with a roof over my head. The rent is reasonable, $518 for military allotments.
I believe there is crime everywhere you go...if it's not on your street, it's on the next one, so that part doesn't bother me too much; just be aware. What bothers me is the fact that I've paid my rent on time for 10 months, and still have no air conditioning on the second floor. Their response: "We've cleaned the system and changed the filter...now you have to deal with it." I had to call the office staff 8 times to get that response. I deployed and served our great country for 5 months...I want my A/C!!! Nope, not happening at Cambridge Arms because "when these apartments were built, they installed units that weren't capable of cooling off the whole apartment." Whatever bit of sense that makes...I'm not sure.
If you are military and you do deploy...ASK THEM ABOUT THEIR DEPLOYMENT SPECIAL...it's $100.00 off the rent each month...something they won't tell you about, and they won't reimburse you when you come back home.
The parking is pretty bad, not enough spots. The dumpsters out front get over loaded every week, and people just set their trash on the ground...granting wild animals access. It all gets thrown out over the parking lots...pretty disgusting I think.
It is a nice commute to Ft. Bragg and Pope AFB, and yes you are close to everything. BUT...there's something wrong when the Fayetteville Police set up road blocks to check ID's and vehicles at all enterances once or twice a month. This doesn't happen at no other apartment complex in Fayetteville that I know of.
I'm not trying to give them a bad name here...I just want to be honest, and give the younger soldiers/airmen a heads up. Know what you're getting into, and try to get a roommate, and find a better place. Where there's one roach, there's a whole family!!! Good luck with apartment hunting!
