NOTE: With regard to the laundry rating, the apartment came with washer/dryer hookups so there was no way to rate them properly.

LOCATION: The apartment is, as previously mentioned, in a very convenient location. It is not gated, as are some apartment complexes located along Morganton (apartments on Morganton really need the gating). Chason Ridge is, however, safe without one. Since it is directly behind a Target store and a Home Depot, many people don't even know there is an apartment complex behind it. There was nothing behind the apartment but trees so it is very quiet. Naturally, the apartments that face the trees or the pond are probably the most popular. There was only one incidence of crime (a burglary) at the complex during the course of my year there.

NEARBY: By the time my year lease was up, they had finished building a Best Buy (next to the Target--you have to drive between those two stores to get to the apartments). Across the street they also built a Michael's, Marshall's, a nice shoe outlet (the name escapes me now), etc. The apartments are right down the street from the mall and there are several restaurants nearby. For you Army people, it took approximately 10 to 15 minutes of driving (morning traffic) to get to Fort Bragg. Not bad at all.

BUILDING CONDITION: We lived in a 2BR 2Bathroom unit that faced our parking area. The apartments were relatively new when we lived there. The buildings were very pretty. The fixtures were nice and the place was in excellent condition. We never needed anything serviced the entire year. Exterminators come around regularly to spray the apartment as a preventive measure. Carpets were a light taupe color. Relatively good amount of space. Nice little balcony. We lived on the second floor so we had cathedral ceilings.

GROUNDS: The landscaping is well-maintained and clean. There is a nice gated pool and a party area that are supposedly only for residents' use but we often found non-residents and their families using them. There is also a pond next to a few of the apartments and you would often see the little geese or ducks (I shamefully don't remember which) walking together near the complex.

STAFF: Since I never really dealt with them except to pick up packages left by UPS or FEDEX, I don't know much about their maintenance staff. This is typical, but just make sure you give them your notice as stipulated in your lease because they were sticklers for rules when I was there.

Recommended. Overall, the rent is reasonable and the place is well worth it.
