My roommate and recieved notice of a deployment to Afghanistan coming up. We notified them 45 days in advance (They require 30 days notice). We told them it would be sometime in January. We were told that we could extend for a prorated amount, as long as we gave 30 days notice. We gave notice that we would be leaving as soon as 1 Jan. They called us on the 5 Jan, and we told them we were not sure of the exact date. When we cleared out the appt on the 25th, we where told that we would be charged for Feb rent, $650, we refused. We were in the Middle East by Jan 28th.
They sent a claim to a collection agency 8 months later. PLUS they charged us both the full amount. So we paid a over $1400 for the month of Feb. and we were not even in the United states. Needless to say, we have begun talks with the military legal department, to try and clear our credit reports of this wrong doing.

I pretty sure they only paid 1400.00 the credit agencey would not let them pay that twice and if they felt like there was a mistake made why didnt they come into the office and talk about it instead of paying it seems like you owed up to what ever you did was wrong , there probaley were damages in the apartment too. so you have to think about that to
