I have read previous reviews on the complex, and I have had mixed results with the complex (for those that do not know, this apartment complex is now called Cross Creek Cove, after changing their name because the neighboring apartments were black-listed on Ft. Bragg housing areas and Camelot did not want to be associated with them).
Originally my wife moved in while she was pregnant with our daughter in February of 2007. Currently at the time I was deployed to Iraq for a third deployment. My wife really loved the lay-out of the apartment (we both still think the apartment is quite wonderful, albeit not enough cabinet space in the Sir Lancelot version we resided in). The staff was quite friendly and courteous and often tried to help her whenever there was a problem.
My wife had difficulty with our immediate neighbors for excessive noise (both were young couples neither over 21, not insulting the younger couples out there but the two couples were very aggravating for my wife and newborn daughter), due to excessive loud parties on week-days and week-ends, and fighting. Later tenants were much quieter and very friendly.
The apartment complex mostly thrives with military members with spouses or single soldiers who don't want to live on post or are still awaiting on-post housing at Ft. Bragg/Ft. Polk. Which at times can be a good thing and bad thing, but a majority of that did not bother us.
Upon returning from Iraq, I was getting ready to end my time in service after nine years (five of which spent at Ft. Bragg, which while I've heard many dislike Fayetteville, I do miss the community). In December of 2007 our dishwasher broke down, a very trying time for any family with a baby and many constant bottles to clean! Maintenance quickly came out to check what was wrong, and ordered a part to repair the dishwasher. After several checks with the office, we finally got our dishwasher fixed three months later (wrong part and the original maintenance guy working on the equipment discontinued work there). I grumbled about the dishwasher being down for so long, but anything else breaking down in the apartment they were quick to repair and check on.
My only issue is when we moved out in April of 2008. I had received a job offer in February for a job in Alabama, and we had placed in a notice that we would be moving out in mid-April of 2008. However, the job fell through, and once again I was searching for a new job. When contacted the apartment complex, we were regrettably informed our apartment would be moved into two days after our final day in the apartment. An unfortunate situation, to be sure by anyone's standards.
After moving out, our former apartment was quickly moved in to. My wife stayed at a local neighbors house for a few days while I was in South Carolina on job interviews at the local hospitals in the area (I now reside in South Carolina with my wife and work at one of the hospitals as a Biomedical Tech). She noticed no one had cleaned the apartment after we moved out (I'm glad we cleaned thoroughly before we moved out, I'd hate to move into someone's filth) before the next tenants moved in.
Shortly therafter, we received a letter informing us that there were no faults found and our deposit of 640 dollars would be refunded to us within the next two weeks. That was in Mid-May.
It is currently Early October and we have yet to receive the deposit check. We have contacted several times and spoken with management. They claim they have mailed the check, and there is nothing they can do. My wife has asked about a stop payment, a check to see if the check was cleared, or a reissue of the deposit check, but to no avail. Currently I am trying to locate the ownership of the complex (the management at the apartments have informed me the company is called First Community, but they will not give me the information to contact them), and I am trying to pursue any means necessary before taking legal action in small claims court.
We have also learned of one of our previous neighbors not receiving their deposit check back until last week, after threatening legal action. They moved out in January of 2008.
So as much as I would like to give them a positive review, unfortunately because of these circumstance I cannot. I hope anyone else that moves there doesn't get concerned over their deposit check as we did.
Oh, and for the record, I love North Carolina. If it wasn't for the lack of employment opportunities in my field I'd probably still be living there. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7

i can give you contact information for the "corporate" people of first communities. what is your address? I would suggest taking legal action. per your lease contract they have 30 days to return your deposit. You can actually collect double to triple the deposit depending on how late they are in returning it...
