My son and his pregnant wife moved here in the fall. Soon after he was deployed a resident was robbed at gunpoint in the parking in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. The office claimed no knowledge of this event. In the last three weeks, there have been four break ins. The apartment above them was entered and the walls were spray painted with personal threats without the door or any of the windows being broken in to. So either the invaders were former residents who kept a key (We've been told that the locks are not changed between tenants) or someone who is somehow employed by or knows someone employed by the management. Two nights ago, the same apartment has a window smashed and the intruders were met with gunfire. This was in the middle of the night. The intruder jumped over a balcony and the resident chased him down a hall into the rear of the buildng, shooting all the way. There were police all over the place. My daughter in law is afraid to leave her apartment and sleeps locked in a bathroom. She is attempting to leave the complex and is getting quite a lot of grief from the management. I guess she will have to get the powers to be in the Army to take care of the matter. This is not a safe apartment complex by any stretch of the imagination. It looks fine from the outside but my son has lived here for less than six months and it has an extremely high crime rate with no visible efforts by management to solve the problem. I would sleep under a bridge before renting an apartment here.

I lived at Camelot/ Cross Creek Apartments for just over a year. I had drunks walking right into my house in the middle of the day, there were large firearms found in the dumpster, Break-ins are a regular occurrence! I hope that your son and daughter in law get out soon. I suggest your son visit the legal services office on Bragg, and hopefully they can help resolve the lease issues. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to live there. I can see things haven't gotten any better in 5 months.

Thank you for your support. I agree with you wholeheartedly about what a total slum this apartment complex is. We are working on our legal recourse with this issue. I don't think this apartment complex will get very good reviews with the military. I hope that they have a "black list" of complexes that are warnings for other military families coming to Fayetteville. Military families deserve much better than this - actually anyone deserves much better than this. This place really gives the area a bad name. Thanks again for writing!
