My report to the BBB

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008

This place is awful, the staff is nice for the first few weeks then they become rude and unruly. Here is my report to the Better Business Bureau.

When we moved into our apartment there was absolutely no confusion about how much money we would pay to move in and pay up until the
following months rent was due. We moved in on September 12th and we told to pay $523. They told us this was our prorated rent and security
deposit less the amount we had already paid to their "sister" company, Morganton Place Apartments. These 2 companies are ran by the same
management company, Sentinal. They failed to print our receipt and provide a copy for our records and when our October rent was due they tried
to charge us $174 which they claimed was a move in cost for our application fee and security deposit. I explained to them that if we were
supposed to pay that amount to move in, that they should have added it into the total amount due upon move in. We have gone back and forth
with the woman in the office, whom are extremely rude and do not hold their composure during our meetings. Finally we had them print our
"accounting ledger" and I review their documentation of our account. Upon review of their information I discovered that they never had all of our
money transfered from their "sister" company, which was a total of $174 (the amount they are over charging us) and trying to cover up there
mistakes. Needless to say, we just wanted to be in good standing with our landlord so, we over paid our rent by $174. Now we may not be able
to provide ourselves with enough groceries to eat until we are paid again on November 1st. Another issue we have been having is that when we
initially moved in their we certain safety precautions that they we supposed to be implementing such as Locked breezeway doors, a constant
security guard and community watch meeting where all tenants are able to voice their concerns. So far the only one of these three things that has
actually come through is 1 community watch meeting. However they left only about 10 mins to the tenants for questions and concerns. My
neighbor whom lives on the 1st floor had her apartment broke into and most of her belongings were stolen. It took them over a week to replace
the broken doors, windows and bar locks. Four cars have been broken into with damage to their windows. When one of the owners was reporting
there car break in to the office, they told her she should have relocated her car. My neighbor was in the office and overheard their conversation.
THe security guards started coming and just looking into our building hallway and then leaving, about once every other day or so. Then when I
brought that issue up at the community watch meeting, for about a 4 days afterwards he came 2 times a day. Now we haven't seen him at all.
We are always home and constantly outside during the day. We would have seen him. So on and so forth. I am honestly very scared while my
husband is working or in the field. I just want the leasing office to treat me with respect, not change my billing information out of nowhere, and
help to keep me and my neighbors safe.
