Where do I start''

There are too many issues to list here but I'll give you the cliff notes version and you can make your own decision.
Before I moved in I was told that the dingy tacky linoleum floor in the kitchen was going to be fixed ----- never fixed
I specifically asked about the work out room and the equipment before I signed my lease and was told that the machines were rarely out of order for servicing reasons ---- at least one of the machines in the room was not in use because of maintenance issues every other time I was in there.
On one occasion I had received confirmation by UPS that they had dropped off a package for me in the office (this is where all packages go to when they will not fit into your assigned mailbox), when I went to pick up the box, the apt manager looked for it but it was nowhere to be found. I was told that "it happens sometimes". I asked if the indicated signature was that of an office employee, response "yes", so are you responsible for the package not being here, response "no". So I was out $150 and I could not file anything with UPS because it had been signed for by an employee who worked in the Heather Park apt office. Where did the package go''' Who knows, I can assure you that the UPS driver who gets paid at least $50,000/yr and who's job depends on it, didn't make off with it.
When leaving I had provided a month and a half notice before moving out on my end of lease date....not early. To my surprise they indicated that a 60 day notice was required. I've lived in over a dozen different rental properties and 60 days before your scheduled end of lease date is completely ridiculous...So I spoke to the office manager they said they would try to help....never heard back and was stuck paying an extra months rent. Bottom line is, the standard is 30 days and this is typically explicitly explained by the manager or someone else going over the lease with you, so you are not caught off guard. I have to take some blame for believing I was dealing with a somewhat ethical property company and management staff and not a staff that took advantage of people not reading their rental agreements. Is it legal, sure....is it someone who you want to rent from, you be the judge.
The living space was in exactly the same condition upon moving out as when I moved in and the property manager did a walk through before and shortly after I moved out and indicated I would receive a full reimbursement of my security deposit ---- never received my security deposit back even after multiple attempts of contacting them. I wrote it off and was happy to just be out of the apartment.
These are the biggest issues that I went through while I was a tenant at Heather Park, not all....I would not recommend these places to anyone. I won't name any particular place/s but there are far better apartments to rent that are within a 5 mile radius with much nicer living space, with many many more amenities (that don't have maintenance issues), with better clientele (i.e. better neighbors), and a much more honest and forthcoming management staff, at similar prices.
