ive been at this place for a couple years. financial situations brought me here, that with a friendly staff "member", not members, but over the years the price and charges have gone up while property and comfort has gone down. there have been at least 10 times i can count that the generators here go out causing power outages, enclosed buildings make the inside smell like mold, musk, and cigarette smoke, the people in my building traffic multiple people in and out, since ive lived here, theyve added a water bill, minimum 25 dollars, renters insurance, minimum of 8 dollars a month, and the light bill has gone from 50 dollars a month to averaging 95 dollars the last couple months due to poor insulation. the locks on the door are more a disservice than a safety measure because the people in my building prop the door open and let anyone in anyway, they only allow you to swipe a card to use the laundry room that you have to pay for (the card) yourself. and speaking of laundry rooms, ive been here for 5 years and ive lost at least 15 dollars in the laundry room due to broken machines. people who dont live in the apartments hang out on the steps and smoke weed, and just tonight i heard gunshots. not that this is the first time ive heard gunshot here though. while the maintenance staff is prompt, their need is too often. my garbage disposal always jams and instead of installing a new one, they come in and shove a screw looking thing inside it and makes it work again for a couple months, and my dish washer (due to poor plumbing) backs up water inside that not only leaves my dishes with a foul odor, but when i go away for a couple days and come back and open it up it fills my apartment with the smell of raw sewage. in the winter in have to go in my bedroom, close the door and blast a space heater because cold air comes through the poorly insulated balcony door, and i have to run a space heater because the central heat will bring my light bill up an extra 50 dollars a month. i started paying 415 a month when i moved in and now to renew my lease its right at or above 500, but no improvements inside my unit have been made. as once stated this place is a step above living in the projects due the the fact that they look better and its less crime, but they are not much better and the crime is still active, just not as much. definitely not worth it unless you are in a dire situation and i would not, after 5 years of being stuck here, advise anyone to move into these apartments
