Mixed Bag

Living here has truly been a mixed bag. I love the apartment but wish the overall complex were a bit better, considering the cost to live here. The apartments themselves are great! Lots of space, very bright, well-maintained, and a ton of storage. Having the washer / dryer right in the apartment is fantastic. However, their rent is extraordinarily high for this city. It is particularly discouraging to see an ad for your apartment listed at a rate about $100 less than what you pay, and then be told the only way to get that rate is to move into another apartment. The grounds are well-kept and the lanscaping is lovely. However, STAY OFF THE GRASS. There are so many dogs here and in spite of the numerous pet stations, there are lots of, um, piles. Unfortunately, it can be pretty noisy here. The noise from apartment to apartment is minimal, but the noise in the parking lot that drifts into your apartment can be very frustrating (i.e. it is a Thursday night at about 10:00 and there are people having some sort of party out there now and last summer one of my neighbors used my car as a shield from the bottle rockets he launched. Took a few washings to get the residue of that crap off.). There are a lot of kids who play in the driveways and parking lots too, which can be noisy. All in all, it's gotten much noisier in recent months. Recently, the tv was stolen from the fitness center (which is nothing special). Frankly, this is worrisome. There are a half a dozen grocery stores within a five minute drive (though at certain times of day the traffic in this area is crazy). Lastly, and this may seem trivial to some but I find this pretty appalling, there is no enforcement of the handicapped parking. Although there is ample parking, people without handicapped placards park in the handicapped spaces (or in the no-parking area next to a handicapped space, thus making the handicapped parking useless). If you have the money and don't mind noise, then this may be a great place for you. The apartments are pretty wonderful! If you are more cost conscious and/or want a quieter neighborhood, look elsewhere.
