I've had a career that's forced me to move from city to city. Over the past five years, I have lived in no less than six apartments ranging from a condo in West Virginia to and english basement apartment in DC to a two level in NYC. As far as apartments go, Deerwood is a good one. I am male, lived there alone for 9 months in a 1br. Thing is, the complaints I've read from previous reviewers, all seem pretty petty to me (with exception to sexual harrasment).
Some things of note (but definately not intollerable):
power bill was a bit steep for the size
*the apartments are a tad old, but I always saw constant improvement efforts
*a few(very few)of the tenants seem a little sketchy, but I never had the first problem out of any of them
*I had an issue with ants in the kitchen, but nothing a few sprayings couldn't rid
*as far as noise, exactly how does management curb an ignorant person's need to boom' besides, the booming radios seemed rare
Some good things:
*the value is excellent
*my apartment: very ergonomic layout w/ lots of indoor AND outdoor closet/storage space
*location: far enough outside the city, one can get away from the bustle, but close to main throughways of Greensboro (Fleming/College Rd and Bryan Blvd)
*maintenance is fast and efficient
*plenty of grass and parking-lot road to walk a pooch (and it seemed a lot of residences had pets so it was a great way to get to know neighbors)
*management was always friendly and available to answer questions

In realtion to the booming music, I am talking about neightbors pulling up their cars in the yards right next to the apartments and blaring music until ten o'clock at night on weekends and week days. I have to admit that it appears that many parts of the complex are quite, I just apparently live in fiesta central. I have to keep my air conditioner on, and a sound machine turned up as loudly as possible to block out the music, and it does nothing for the ear drum splitting bass.
I often do laundry early Saturdays, and have walked out of my apartment at 6:00am to hear music blaring from one of the apartments in my building. It must be aweful for the people living next to them. Also, people will pull up at night and early morning with major bass, waking me up every time. When you live in a loft apartment, this is more of a problem, as your bedroom is overlooking the parking lot, making everything louder.
While I admit, there is little management can do for people driving by with loud cars, they should inhibit people from driving their cars on the grass up to the apartment to play music as loudly as possible. Not only is it annoying and very inconsiderate, but it's dangerous for all of the kids in the complex.
