There have been improvements to the square over the past 3 years. The biggest, noticeable improvement would be the new furniture which replaced the old around two years ago. The 'apartment' itself is actually an old hotel room. You have one standard size room with your own bath. It's not bad if you want to live on your own, but it gets a bit cramped if you choose to have a roommate. The rooms have very poor lighting. There is a light by the door and lights in the bathroom but none in the general living area. I had to supply my own lamps to be able to see in the dimly lit room. The balcony is nice to have, but the paint on the railing is chipping which lets the metal underneath rust. Aside from surface rust, the railing to the balcony is sturdy. They supply you with your own microwave and refrigerator which is another perk.
The temperature control is an issue for some. There are three speeds which you can set your heater; Low, Medium, and High. The unit blows out the same temperature air on all the settings. During the winter the unit will blow out hot air and during the summer it will blow out cold air. The switch between hot and cold while the seasons are changing might make some uncomfortable. For example, last semester the temperature outside dropped to 30-40 degrees and the unit was still blowing out cold air because the managers didn't switch the buildings air supply from cold to hot. It was changed over by the next day, but it was still a cold night.
I've heard that some people don't get good hot water. I've lived on the fifth and eighth floor and the hot water was never an issue for me. The water pressure is strong even up in the eighth floor.
The biggest complaint I have about the square would be their free wireless internet. It has been horrible ever since they installed it. With in the past few days they made repairs to it which didn t help the problem. They installed more connection points for better signal strength is what I m guessing. The signal strength was fine most of the time. The internet here will bump you off of your messengers, slowly load pages, and is just slow in general. The only time the internet is decent is while everyone is asleep or in class. Even then it can have its issues. I ve complained to the wireless provider multiple times, management multiple times, and even the vice president at a town hall meeting. I just bought an N card for my laptop which still didn t help the problem. There should be no reason for the internet to be as bad as it is. I get a faint signal from Greensboro college way across the street, yet the internet at the square won t keep a constant connection. This is HIGHLY annoying when you are trying to talk to people on messengers. You can t do any online quizzes because the connection WILL disconnect you and mess up your grade. You can t use the connection for online games for more then five minutes with out loosing connection to the game server, which kills playing any console/computer games online. I know people who don t live here who hate the internet here just because it s annoying to have to retype everything when you get bumped off of messengers every three minutes. I wish I could say that I m blowing the three minute mark out of proportion but some times it doesn t even last for that! The internet at the square could use MAJOR improvement. Maybe they are in the process of fixing the internet dilemma. It wouldn t surprise me if all of the repairs are done and we are still left with the same lousy internet.
Parking is fairly abundant at the square. It is nice to have a close place to park. The parking lot is supposedly monitored, but I ve heard horrible stories about management withholding the footage until it has been written over in the case of break-ins.
The mail service has its minor flaws but everything normally gets to you eventually. Packages do get mislabeled sometimes so it is important to keep an eye on them.
The facilities at the square are mediocre. They aren t horrible and they aren t the best. They do have decent music practice rooms and other large open rooms which are hardly ever occupied.
The location for the square is a perk. It is located within walking distance to UNCG and Greensboro College. A&T is close, but walking wouldn t be recommended.
For the most part, that sums it up for the square. The biggest problem with this apartment complex is the internet.

The parking lot is not monitored, whoever told you that is wrong, there is a camera pointed in the direction of the parking lot, but it does not actually cove the whole thing, thier are courtesy officers that patrol the parking lot at night.
