I do not reccommend living at University Square. There has been four different management companies since I moved in August, 2006. Records of rent payments have been misconstued and "lost" within these management changes. I have been charged a random sum of money, that has changed every month, without an explanation. I finally learned where this "charge" was coming from... five months after I first requested it. Please keep in mind that I have received at least one letter, most of the time two, each month about this. Every time I received a letter I went to the front desk and explained the same situaton. I began to get tired of saying " I don't know where this 200 dollars is coming from Ihave paid all of my rent I just need to know where it is from and I will pay this if it is a legitimate charge." Now that I have taken all of my receipts and bank statements to the manger, there is still nothing being done about this. This has gone on for five months and the apartment that I am moving into had to call and ask about this balance. My apparent balance at this time was around 3oo dollars. it does not look great to a future leaser that I am "delinquent" on my rent. Now that I have taken every piece of any kind of records I have to the manager I am still being told they will get to it soon. After all that I have been through to get this cleared up; going through records from over a year ago, dealing with every manager's attitude and lies, getting harrassing letters underneath my door and damaging any efforts to get out of this place all I have asked for is a letter stating that there was a mixup in the records and I am not delinquent on my rent... not much to ask after these people have made me do so much because of the irresponsibility of others to keep up with important records. The staff is rude and inconsiderate.

Also, another reason I would not live at University Square, the management gave me a mailbox when I moved in August, 2006 and then gave it away a few months ago. All of my mail was returned and it never got to me. I made numerous complaints about this and nothing was ever done about it. I had to switch mailboxes after having the same box for over a year. After complaining about this the manager, Ann, told me that this was all of the mailman's fault. Apparently he wrote a different name on the sticker and put it in my mailbox Ann to sabotoge your career at University Square...of course he did, why didn't I think of that'

Also they say that you can make a complaint to the staff about maintenence. The water has been turned off and the heat as weel to ensure that it wouldnt "go out" during the winter months. It still did and on a night that it snowed. When some of us complained we were told that they would get to it... it took a while until the "got to it."

Also the cable goes out all of the time... this is basic cable ... and when we ask if there is anything being done about it we are told to wait and see. Same thing with the internet service. It would not be a problem on a usual basis, but this is "included" in our rent and on the brochures that are passed out. Do not believe everyhing you read. All of the amenities are not kept up like they say they are on that brochure or website that you are looking at either.

Most importantly, I would not live here because of just bad business practices. The managers seem to just be rude all of the time and the management company has let go of the staff that can communicate with the residents and has employed rude people to answer questions and concerns.

One last thing, when trying to get in touch with the corporate office, the "boss," remember it is impossible. I went to the wesite that they give us for contact and it took my email and sent it right back to Ann. 3 weeks later I still had not received a response so I emailed again and printed both emails out and took them to the front desk. There Ann told me that she got my email and just forgot about it. This was not an email that I would look over when I advised that I was consulting an attorney on future action. It was a wasted effort to try to reach anyone.

I know what you mean. Unfortunately, I found out that Internet is NOT included in our rent. It's an amenity, which just means that it's provided to us for free. It's just an "extra" thing. It sucks, I know. Especially since it is ALWAYS GOING OUT! Also, the maintenance guy with the white hair really gets on my nerves. I moved here in July of last year, and all he seems to do is complain really loudly to anyone who cares. I wish they'd fix stuff faster. It would help a LOT. The staff that I've seen are pretty nice, though, especially the girl who works in the morning. They're normally really friendly--at least to me, anyway. And I think the manager has a lot of work to do, especially if she has to clean up the old managements' messes. It sucks to have to wait for stuff, but the lady is kinda new, so I'd cut her some slack. I wouldn't recommend living here either, but it works for my budget and the location is good. That's about it, though.

I worked there during this time, and I remember your situation. The thing is, management companies mean beurocracy. We felt your pain, really, and were trying to help. Ann had to go through Campus Advantage, who had to try to trace old records through other management companies, who hadn't kept good records. Basically it was always a paperwork nightmare, but legally we had to keep giving notices as long as it was on the books. Because of old bad records we lots a lot of rent- some people hadn't paid in years and were still there! As for internet, cable, etc- those weren't included in rent, they're provided free. We understood that the service wasn't perfect, and we would actually spend hours on the phone at night with the internet company (I think they were kind of afraid of me after a while!). Basically, it takes a lot of time and paperwork, again, to fix old practices, and sometimes the best you can do is try to convince them to send out a technician to at least patch a problem. I'm sorry you had trouble getting to another apartment, but believe me- it was not an attempt to get more money from you unfairly, or to make anything difficult. We really did/do all work super hard for the residents- there's just always a lot to do. The work continues!
