I would not recommend living at University Square. I have been living here for 5 months now and I do not feel safe here. I am a girl living alone in a very "sketchy" apartment. I can hear people walk down the halls at night jiggling the door knobs. I always, always, always keep my door locked and chained - I do not feel safe without both.
About two months after moving in, the hot water stopped working. It did not work for about 2 weeks. There were many complaints. The kitchen that you share with the entire building (9 floors) is always dirty. The sliding glass doors do not shut all the way and during the winter, the room stays cold all the time. The rooms are TINY. The doors downstairs do not stay locked all the time, so anyone can come in and out at any time. I even say a guy carrying a gun on the stairwell once!
Most of the staff are friendly - but the manager is always grouchy.
Again, I would NOT recommend living here. It is extremely overpriced. I can not wait until my lease is up.

When I go down to the kitchen, I ALWAYS bring down some bleach...I don't need E.Coli or salmonella on someone elses behalf. I have to start with a sink full of hot water, bleach and dish soap, so I can say that my food was prepared in a sanitary state. And that's sad we have to clean up after nasty behind people who claim that they are grown. I have the same fears as you living here because of the improper 'security'. I lock and chain my door too and I have a chair in front of it. It's extra work if someone gets through and more noise. I really wish I wasn't in such a rush to find a living spot, because I would not be here. Not to sound offensive, but my friends that live by A&T feel more safe over in the houses that they refer to as "the hood" than i do in this 9-story building, with a key-pass door and cameras. DON'T MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
