I moved into GMR my sr year at ECU and absolutely loved it. Now I can't speak for the 2BR units, but my 1BR was perfect for me. Not only did it include water, sewer and cable, but it's location to ECU is priceless -- with being just one block away you can walk to class in just minutes and save from buying an expensive parking pass that ECU sells or waiting around for a bus.

The apt. manager is nice. She was sort of a grandmother type figure to me and if I ever forgot to turn my rent in, she'd call me and give me a chance to bring it to her instead of charging me a late fee. She's supposedly fussy to some tenants, but based on what I know about them, I think it's completely warranted.

The laundry facilities are safe and secure and I never had to wait for a washe or dryer the whole year I lived there. The pool on site is very nice as well. My only complaint about it is that the it seems to take longer than all of the other local apt. pools to open. Instead it opens the traditional memorial day (I think), about a month later than other local student apt. pools.

Overall the community is very quiet and clean. There are of course loud tenants here and there, but they're fine. And if they're really a problem you can complain to the apt. manager or call the local police non-emergency and they'll come and take care of them.

I had a newly renovated apt, so I had brand new carpets and new appliances. A/C is through a wall unit in the living room, so ventilation to the bedroom is awful. You have to have an amazing fan in the summer months to survive. In the winter the apts use strip heating, and it works well. I never spent more than $75 on any utility bill and I took baths and cooked on the stove almost everyday. The balcony's a large and great to hang out on in the good weather too.

After having lived in half of the other apt complexes in town, during my 6yr run at ECU, GMR was hands down my favorite and I only wished I would have found it sooner.
