Another typical apt place

Me and my husband have not been in this apartment very long only since mid April. I can't believe all the problems that we have had. We have lived in 3 other apt communites in different towns throughout nc and none of them has been as bad as far as maintenance and office people go. This is sad because we have lived in some super ghetto places.

When we first moved in they hadn't fixed the wires that were sticking out by our patio door. They had promised to look into it before we moved in. They said that they hadn't had time to get to them once we moved in. So weeks went by with no word and finally I showed up at the office to complain about it along with some other minor problems with the apartment-kitchen light flashin, weather strippin on door was coming off. They didn't come out to fix these problems until about 2-3 weeks later and after I had been over there a few times to complain that nothing was being done. I fear for when we have a real emergency if they treat minor problems like this.

The icin on the cake though is what happened today. We have a cat and when we signed the lease they drew it up to say that we did not have a pet deposit and that we were only going to be charged 20 a month for the cat. Well today we get a letter saying that we owe them 250 pet deposit. So naturally me and my husband are freakin out cause money sure don't grow on trees and the note said if we didn't pay it by the end of the month they were going to sue us! We hadn't heard nothing about this until today with the letter being handed to us by a leasing agent. We couldn't believe it because we pay our rent early all the time and have gone over there for minor things and nobody said anything to us. We felt it was very rude. Me and my husband are the best renters you can have.

I ended up pulling out the lease and the lease did not say that we had to pay a deposit. So they had screwed up when they drew it up and put down that we owed $0 pet deposit. We went over there and showed it to the apt manager and she said ok you were supposed to, but it isn't on here on the lease. We messed up. They can't do nothing about it now legally since it was not originally on the lease. Always beware of apt people and try to write checks so you can put down what the check is for for your records. Also keep the lease agreement. Better safe than sorry!

The pool table here used to be nice, but the sticks have worn out and they have no padding on the end of them plus a lot of people like to go over there so it is hard to play. Kids go in there sometimes and shoot around without parents or they are there with their parents and the parents are actually drinking around the kids.

They currently only have one pool. They are constructing the other one behind the clubhouse. Currently, the pool that they have open is full most of the time of kids who take up half the pool, and then the adults are left on the other half of the pool. It is a very small pool and only goes up to 5 feet with no diving board. There is also a crazy guy who hangs out at the pool and talks to himself and opens the gates up for women as they walk out. Also, there are shaddy characters who come over from other neighborhoods to go to the pool and fitness center. I don't understand why they don't control access to the pool anyone can enter and then from there they can enter the fitness center. As much rent as we pay here there should be a kiddy pool for the kids and there should be restricted access for the pool.

Yes the apts here are pretty safe I believe. I don't have a problem with being alone here like I did at some of the other places, but it is hard to get out of the lease here. You have to pay back all concessions plus 2 months rent along with 30 days notice. I definitely don't recommend these apartments especially since we have only been here a few months and we are having all these issues.

The bad thing is is that Greenville is so ghetto that you only have a few you can pick from here-Treybrooke and Wimbledon are about the only ones that are more on the luxury side of things. We went to the other places before we rented here and decided on this one. We didn't like the staff at Treybrooke. The leasin agent gave us the keys and told us to go look at the apt place ourselves. When we came back she was smokin a cigarette out back at the pool. Also, they are not as nice on the inside and they are close to ghettoville right next door. Wimbledon we couldn't go to because you can only have two cars per apartment, and we had 3 cars so we didn't even view an apt. All the ones I mentioned are pet friendly too because that was another stumbling block of ours when I was looking into places to rent.

The other reviewer said that yard maintenance starts at 7 am. Well, I have been awakened at 8 am a few times, and they were right outside our window literally. The staff says they can't do anything about them cutting the grass at 8 am in the morning.

The other reviewer also mentioned the gate problems. They are constantly having problems with the gates either not opening or not shutting at the appropriate time at night. So, this place sure isn't gated. I wouldn't call this greenville's only gated community because greenville doesn't have one since the gates don't work three-fourths of the time.

I see a lot of large dogs being walked and I know for a fact that they are not allowed to have big dogs around here. Most people do not use the dog walks although we have several throughout the community. Watch your step cause they don't clean up after their dogs once they are done walking around the buildings.

I am a renter at Waterford place also and this is very true. Before you sign a lease they promise you the world. Such as another pool. I moved in August of 2004. They told us that they were about to build another club house and a pool because of all the other apartments they were adding. Well its September 2005 and they built the club house which is now there NEW OFFICE And I think they started digging a hole for the pool at the end of the summer. I guess I will be gone when its done. Oh yea and the nice pool table. Good Luck using it. This huge apartment complex is to share one pool table. And since it has switched to new management we never get a news letter to find out what is going on around here anymore. We didnt even get a letter to inform us that there was new management until MONTHS later. And if something is broke, you better fix it yourself or go over and raise you know what because thats the only way maintenance will get their butt over there. It never fails they are busy, but I see them in the office or riding around all day. hmmm. I really could go on but I guess you get the point. I have talked to several others who all say the same thing. Like I said, they promise you the moon when you sign your lease but after that they act like they dont even know you. You can almost since their fake smile when you walk in the door to pay your rent. I feel like they make fun of me when I leave. I hate to go in there.
