During my career, I have lived in London and Hong Kong, Paris and Rome. The downside to so much travel and living abroad can be a sense of loneliness and not belonging. My suspicion has proven true that life in Birkdale Village is exactly what you make of it. I am loving every day I live at BV, does that make me a "Birkdaler", I have no idea. I walk to Starbuck's, see movies, shop for all my necessities, all without having to drive or park. During the summer I have music on my terrace, compliments of BV. What else can you wish for' The apartments are well insulated and you do not hear street noise with your windows closed. Otherwise, you can open them and enjoy the feel of people being near, erasing the lonely feel of life "on the road". My apartment is very nicely appointed, rivalling the custom features of the home I own in Texas. My fireplace lights with the flick of a switch, the tall ceilings and extensive crown mouldings, arched doorways and enormous (9'x12') terrace give a palatial feel to space which is normally (in my experience at least) rather dull and lifeless. At any rate, the staff are not only courteous here, they actually call to solicit any problems you may find. They do not wait for you to report them! Never have I enjoyed the type of reception I've found at Birkdale Village. My experience is that people who complain the most, normally have very limited experiences to draw from. Compared to my flat in London, my pied et terre in Paris, and apartments in Hong Kong and Rome, I will take my apartment at Birkdale Village, hands down! My assignment is scheduled to last a minimum of three years, so don't wait for me to leave my apartment, it's booked until 2011!
