I lived at the Abbington in 2007 for 4 months. we had too many problems for only being there for short term and you pay an extra $100 a month for a short term lease.
Appearance:
I was very pleased with my apartment building. We were very lucky to be on the 1st floor with the pool right outside the patio! We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and the master bedroom was very neat how it was set up! Almost like a "mini" apartment in itself, with a HUGE walkin closet, laundry room, and HUGE bathroom with a garden tub!
Maintenance:
Maintenance was usually pretty good about being there shortly after you called with a problem. but the problem usually wasnt fixed well. We had a door handle that kept falling off...they fixed it 3 times and it still wouldnt stay on' also the air conditioning didnt seem to really come out too well...there wasnt much they could do about that either...but the man was very friendly.
Management..in the office:
There were 2 women, when i live there, that ran the office, Kayla and Kacey. Kayla was very friendly and kind, always welcoming when you walked in! Kacey was the leasing manager, and she, to me, seemed very fake. she would be nice to your face, but you could tell she wasnt sincere about it. we had many problems with her. One time, we were at the pool and she asked to see our pool passes, we were NEVER given these "pool passes"...NOW, she knew we lived there, we had been there for 2 months already...but she told us we needed to leave and we could come back as soon as we brought our pool passes'' To this day, i still dont understand...we were there for the next 2 months and we never recieved any "pool passes"...the next major problem we had with her was when we were moving out. My boyfriend and I were moving to another state, so we requested the "apartment check" BEFORE we left, so we wouldnt have any problems...Kacey told us "not to worry about it, they rarely ever charge people for things, we were only there for 4 months...there wouldnt be a problem." 3 months later we returned to jacksonville, and stopped in to see where our deposit check was...Kacey told us we we were not getting the deposit back, that there were things wrong in the apartment. When I asked her about these "things" she was very slow to answer. she finally went through the paper work with us and said.."oh, the appliances were not cleaned thoroughly" I asked which appliances bc we cleaned them all...she didnt have an answer as to which appliances at first..then she said "oh, the stove, did you lift the range up to clean it'" we told her we did and she looked confused and caught! she then said "oh and some of the blinds were broken." which i know they were not broken when we left...she obviously was making all of that up. For her to say she was going to keep our $300 deposit bc the appliances were "not cleaned enough" and some blinds were broken was unbelievable! we finally recieved all of our deposit back a couple months later after talking with supervisor above her, she was very considerate and saw exactly what kacey was trying to do.
Community:
Other than the management...the community was awesome! The Abbington is so close to walmart and there is a nice large pond down the street that we would walk to. All the residents were very friendly and nice also.
In my oppinion, the abbington was ok-good overall and you might like living here, but also think about the puller place apartments bc those apartments are very upscale, nice and VERY similar in price when you add in an extra $40 a month for washer & dryer at the abbington, at puller place...it's no extra cost!!!
