First off, I want to say that anyone reading these reviews need to take into consideration ALL other reviews on this site. Abbington Place apartments is actually a very nice complex and better than a lot available in Jacksonville. I can easily explain a lot of what the other tenants complain about. Abbington Place, like all other apartments, has a leasing agreement followed by stipulations on length of contract, pet arrangements, etc. As with any other lease, if you DO NOT read the fine print you will get burned with so call "rising" rent or "miscellaneous" charges. There is no rising rent here, the apartment combines your rent, pet rent, contract length price, water bill and cable (if you bought it through the apartment) together. So if your water varies so will your bill. If the cable company raises their rates it will be on your bill. If you have a pet it will be on your bill. Enough said on that. As far as the complex it is well maintained and very well lit. The staff at the front office are helpful and if you ask the right questions you will receive an adequate answer. I did have an instance of maintenance just walking into my apartment when I was sleeping, as I did not hear them knock. Simple misunderstanding and I can see it happening sometimes with over 10 full buildings to care for. Parking is decent but with other tenants having many guests parking can be hard to come by. Rent is higher than most of Jacksonville and you do get penalized for short contracts, but if you need it then you will have to pay upfront. The amenities are varied and add the overall of the complex. These are highly sought after apartments because they are new and in good condition. Don't let what other posters said here stray you away, make the decision for yourself.

No I actually live here, I just hate hearing people whine when they think they are getting screwed and they aren't. All I can say is learn to read and you wont feel like your getting jacked around all the time. Even more important, quit being lazy and ask questions. You might actually find out why something is the way it is instead of assuming.

Do they offer furnished apartments? That is the main obstacle for me when it comes to deciding to live here because i currently live in Chicago and can not imagine bringing all of my stuff there if it will only be for a year

They do have furnished apartments... a little pricey though. It would probably be cheaper to furnish yourself if you were staying more than a few months.
