Ghetto apartments--don't do it!

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
We had a 2 bedroom unit we paid 574 for in 2001. We were stupid and used to high city prices and needed something FAST.
It was outdated, looked overall shabby, things were ALWAYS falling apart, the towel rack wouldn't stay on, the bathroom door was always broken, the balcony made you feel like if you stepped in the wrong place you would fall right through! There were always groups of people wandering around in the parking lot in the evening. I didn't feel safe and after we moved we heard someone got shot in the same building we had been in!
