I lived in Abbington for a year and that was the longest year of my life, or so it seemed. I moved out 3 weeks early to Brynn Marr and I have to say this is where we're going to stay until my husband is out of the Marines. First of all the pricing-I paid $740 for a ONE bedroom apartment at Abbington as opposed to $776 for a THREE bedroom at Brynn Marr. And the fees---there's a deposit for both of them but Abbington charges a $250 "COMMUNITY FEE"- WHAT IS THAT''' They say it's for all the resident activities, but in my year there there were a few crappy barbeques that no one went to and loud "car shows" in the front parking lot (conveniently, also in front of my building) where they displayed such cars as Chevrolet Blazers, very spectacular, hahahahhahahaha. Then there's the pet fees. I have a dog and a cat. At Abbington I paid a whopping total of $1540 during my stay there. That's a $350 fee each pet and then $35 per pet every month for "pet rent". I have a 7 lb cat and a 2 1/2 lb dog!!! And the restrictions that came with it! Go within 100 yards of the "shrubbery" and you're fined. And of course when I did leave I got none of my deposit back adn was charged for 2 cleanings. Why, I don't know but ask the staff and they throw papers and insults at you. I was called "unprofessional" and "rude" because I wanted to know why I had to pay for a carpet company to come twice. Just tell me it didn't get the stain out the first time and I'll go away!! At Brynn Marr, you can take whatever animal you want anywhere you wish. My dog regularly goes for visits with the staff in the front office and I haven't been fined once. You do have to pay $300 pet fee per pet but no pet rent. Now onto the staff. The staff at Abbington made me so angry. They were rude to me when I'd ask simple questions. They were incompetent and their office equipment always seemed to be broken when I needed a receipt for my rent or the pet deposits--take the $350 pet fee and buy a new printer!!! At Brynn Marr they've always been more then helpful with whatever I need. I can even regularly fax things from their office without being charged instead of having to go all the way to staples! I was having a problem with one of my neighbors-he was always playing loud music next to me late at night and they settled it no problem. At Abbington the source of the loud music was from their ridiculous car shows and the walls were so thin there, if someone sneezed, you'd hear "Bless you" from the other side of the building! OK, that's an exaggeration but you get the point. As for maintenance, when I moved into my apartment at Abbington, there were a number of things fixed, some of them didn't get fixed until a couple months after I lived there! In addition to the walk through sheet you get when you move in, you also have to write down a list of repairs you need. When I submitted my sheet at Brynn Marr, everything was taken care of right away, without me asking twice. Overall, I'd save some money and settle at Brynn Marr. It's definitely the ACTUAL "best address in town"!
