I'm Picky...but overall not a bad place

First off you need to know that I am one of the most nit picky people you will ever meet. That being said I didn't like Brynn Marr personally.
Cons:
When I moved in the carpeting near the front door was very matted and worn in. It was little dingy looking. The carpeting on the stairs was also matted and worn. There were light pink stains in the living room...it looked like juice. The stairs creaked when I walked on them and I am very tiny. The stove was an electric one but didn't have any drip pans so the metal coils bent down to one side and so did my pans while I cooked. I had to hold the handle the entire time I cooked or the pan would slide off. I never did find the laundry room lol. I found a maintenance man walking around outside one day and ran out to ask him and he had no clue where the laundry room was. We ended up driving to a public laundry place. Online the pictures of the kitchen were beautiful but on move in day we had an outdated kitchen...they had just started remodeling the kitchens and (at least while we were there) were told that they were only redoing the kitchens that had no tenants so we were going to be stuff with our old kitchen while we lived there.
But the worst part of it all....the water bugs. Well I call them waterbugs but they looked like mutant sized german roaches. One night after moving in I heard one of my shoe boxes that I had placed on the top shelf in my closet move slightly...then it moved again and fell off the shelf. I turned on my lamp and stared at the closet door, a few seconds later a huge roach crawled out of the top corner of the closet door. That mutant was big enough to move a shoe box!!! After that I asked my husband to put on the list for base housing and thankfully it was only a week or two before we got a brand new house on base. Our rent for a two bedroom townhouse was 650 but that did not include any utilities.
We signed a year lease. We only lived there a month. Being in the military we are allowed to break leases providing we have orders to show. We brought our order for base housing but they didn't do us much good. The negotiation to break our lease went as follows...first they said we had to continue paying rent until the apartment was re-rented up to a year. We said no simply b/c there's no way we could afford two rents for a year. Then we were told we could pay for half (6 mos). We said no again..that was almost 4 thousand dollars and we hadnt even fully moved in yet. Then they made us the final offer of paying 3 months rent. We agreed. We took out a loan...it did put us in debt for a while. So yea it sucked they didn't fully honor our orders to leave.
Okay now the good stuff. The staff was very helpful during the leasing process. I was in VA and was able to do all of the paper work via fax so that I was able to move in the day I arrived. When I asked about what (if any) kinds of bugs they had I was informed that some of the residents had complained about the large roaches. So at least they were up front about it. (one thing bad though, when I asked about the bugs the lady seemed annoyed with me and in so many words told me I needed to get over my fear b/c I was going to find bug where ever I lived...I already know that and her snotty comment was not appreciated) And when it came time to move out yes we were put in debt but we did get our entire deposit back. Of course we hadn't done anything to the townhouse but I know a lot of places will try to find anything to keep some or all of your deposit but they didn't. Another good thing...our neighbors were really nice. Very polite. It was quiet. I never had problems with noise..at any time of the day. There were lots of dogs but I didn't see any poop around the area...so either the neighbors were very polite about cleaning up after their pets or brynn marr was very good at keeping up the grounds. We never had problems with finding a parking spot directly in front of our door.
All in all the place wasn't horrible. My husband didn't mind it at all. So if you're not a picky person then I'd say this place is good. The rent was pretty cheap considering we had a 2br townhouse. There are much better places to rent out in town. Just gotta look for them. 6TrHFn6pn7poyqNlKEgn
