Lauradale is fine for it's price

I moved into this apartment complex when we first got to Jacksonville. The apartment itself is very spacious for the rent price (small bedrooms, huge living room and kitchen/dining area). My dish washer and air conditioner broke within a month of living here, but the maintenance men (who are awesome) replaced them with brand new ones within 24 hours.
The good:
Large public rooms.
They let you paint as long as you paint it back white upon move out (or pay if you don't).
Maintenance men respond very quickly to maintenance calls.
The people in the office know me by name.
They allow pets without an insanely priced charge.
I feel safe here (all the people swearing it's ghetto need to move to a metropolis for a year and see how they feel about Lauradale after this. This is ghetto? Please...I went to school in an area with on site city police at all times, break ins every day, drive by shootings at least once a week...nothing compared to that).
The bad:
The front office woman is a little snotty to people.
The windows are thin so you can hear neighbors when they are outside.
There is only one (small) bathroom with one (tiny) counter.
There are washer and dryer connections--outside in a storage shed next to your back porch.
The ugly:
The roof is not insulated very well (and the manager and maintenance manager have both stated this to me) so in the summertime it stays over 80 in the apartment during daylight hours.
The parking is horrible. There are not enough spaces and it's so bad that sometimes I don't want to go out for the evening so I don't lose my spot. My handicapped parents came to visit, so we moved our two cars to the pool parking, a Marine parked in front of my apartment in the only open spot, and then refused to move his car. The management will not do anything about parking. Or the insulation.
I do enjoy living here as much as any small 2 bedroom apartment. I wish there was more storage space (bigger closets...something) I wish the washer/dryer connection was inside the apartment. I really wish they'd re-insulate the apartments. And mostly, I wish they'd assign parking.
I do recommend Lauradale, however. The apartment is exactly what I expect for the rent. My rent has 3 pet fees of $20 a piece so you can calculate what you should expect.

I grew up in detroit mi, this place isn't anything compared to that, but it still doesn't make this place good. I want better for me and my child, and other people should too. Comparing it to a worse ghetto doesn't make this place any better........garbage
