Great Apartment Complex

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006

I lived here from February 2004 to July 2006. I selected the complex due to reading reviews on the other apartments in the area. The apartment I rented was on the third floor and it was a 1 bedroom with a balcony. It offered a lot of square footage; I believe it was because of allowing wheel chair access. The kitchen offered a dishwasher, refrigerator, oven/stove and a microwave oven. The kitchen also offers small closet and a nook looking into your dining and living rooms. The living room is big with a door to the balcony which was a good size too. There is a door in the living room that leads directly into the bedroom. The bedroom offers a ceiling fan and a hallway with a large walk in closet and plenty of space and shelves. There is also a washer and dryer hookup closet. If you don't have or rent a washer or dryer this closet area holds a lot of extra boxes etc... Finally there is a small linen closet next to the bathroom door. The bathroom was the largest I've seen in an apartment. The bathroom has two doors one leading into the kitchen and the other into the hallway to the bedroom.

One issue I had concerned the A/C and Heating thermometer/control (located in the dining room area). Whenever I would be eating at the dining room table during the summer months the A/C would always turn on (probably due to body heat).

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They would hold any boxes that arrive for you. The offered DVDs for residents to borrow. There is a swimming pool, volleyball court, small playground and a tennis court. There is a business center that offered 3 computers, a printer and a fax machine. The business center was open 24 hours and only accessable through a keypad entry. The complex has a resident appreciation party during the summer. There is one laundry facility on site that is also only accessible by keypad.

The complex is next to a shopping area which offers a Wal-Mart, Best Buys, Circuit City, Target, Books A Million, Toys R Us and some fast food joints. It is about 12 miles (or 50 minutes) to camp legerm (mainside) and about 55 miles to wilmington.

When I deployed to Iraq I kept my apartment and the apartment complex shut off my water, so I wasn't charged while I was deployed. They only asked that you don't shut off the refrigerator but turn it down to the warmest setting. My electric bill while deployed averaged $10-11 a month.

The only problems I've encountered was when I left. I received an itemized listing of problems. Two of them involved something I didn't think of adding on my initial check in sheet because it should've been caught/cleaned before I moved in. There were small rust stains on my refrigerator. There were yellow paint shoe prints outside my door in the common area to all the apartments. And on my balcony there were black markings on the wood flooring. I wasn't charged for this but something to think about when doing your move in inventory. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS
