This review is an honest assessment of the Crowne at James Landing. I'm going to leave as much opinion out, so you can make your own. This is based on a 1 1/2 years of renting a 2 br/2bt on the middle level for a late twenties-early thirties couple, 2 cats, and a newborn.

The Crowne at James Landing has:
large floorplans, our 2 bedroom/2 bath was about 1200sq ft
A spacious kitchen, lots of storage and decent appliances
Quick responding maitainance staff, we had calls for hair clogged drains, clogged garbage disposal, AC problem, towel bar came out of wall (service calls were corrected within 2 hours in most cases)
spacious balcony
large walk-in closets
storage space on balcony, laundry closet, and shoe & coat closet
Fewer parking spaces in front of most buildings than residents
if you live near more than one building, or near the front, expect to park up to 50 yards away
Thick sound resistant walls (rarely heard tv's or music)
Thin noise insulation between floors thinner than most apartment communities, so if you are on the 1st or 2nd floor, expect to hear the neighbors walking around and plan to not use the clothes washing machine after 10:00pm or before 8:00am (rocking during the spin cycle can be heard by all)
1 bar or less of cell phone reception (we had verizon wireless come out and they determined the area a dead zone)
Noise complains are dealt with by placing a letter on the door. Multiple letters can be delivered. we filed multiple compaints on the same family, with a toddler that had a bedtime of MIDNIGHT.
Several dogs live in the community, and some outdoor farel cats
The grounds are groomed every 1- 1 1/2 weeks
The grass is discolored from pet urine around walkways to buildings
They spray for spiders and change filters on a schedule
Papa John's provides pizzas for $6 once every 1-2 months.
The pools, there are 2, are not heated (which is typical of most greensboro area pools)
The front gate has worked an average of 50% of the time (it has been hit my cars at least 4 times)
The rear gate works 85%, a remote is need to enter through this gate (there is a small deposit for the remote access)
The garbage area is in at the main gate entrance where traffic flow enters, can be congestested
People carry garage to the front on their cars
they offer recycling
They have 2-3 social events a year
Our neighbors included two young 20ish guys whom were roommates. There car window was broken and there stereo was missing one morning
After redoing the fitness center, a resident with a key to the center, broke in and stole the flat screen TV's off the walls. There are now fab cards.
There is a business center that has 2 computers, 1 of which usually works and WiFi, printer is often out of paper and/or ink
The front office staff are pleasant, some are irresponsible with paperwork and messages that have been delivered, information can be inconsistent try to work with the same person each time to eliminate miscommunication
Some terms of the lease are negotiage, others are not (ex. # of pets, length of notice to vacate)
The playground is for ages 5
The dog park is adequate (our parents always brought their dog while visiting)
The grills and picnic tables are adequate
I have no experience with the garages, I know they had limited availability and cost about $100 monthly
The mailbox area can also be congested for parking and traffic
Packages are delivered to your apartment door if you prefer another method notify UPS, Fed Ex, USPS, and the front office, notifying just one place will not prevent them from being left at doorstep
Rent has gone up $10 after 1 1/2 years, the current rent deals are less than what we have been paying for the past 1 1/2 years, possibly due to the economy
We recieved a full security deposit back after carefull cleaning

Now for my opinion:
This is a good location, nice looking buildings, the apartment met our needs (until we have a child and outgrew the space), we disliked the poorly noise insulated floors, the maitainance staff were super, so were 2 of the 4 lease agents. There was no exceptions made for our giving 30 days notice rather than 60 days notice that we were moving when our lease ran out which cost us $985. It's an apartment complex, so read the details of the lease and follow them carefully. I would recommend this place, after having lived at Lincoln Green prior, it is cleaner, nicer, and quieter then Lincoln Green. Parking is awful at most complexes, noise is a problem at most places, the noise between floors was worse here, crime is not a problem (just don't leave GPS units and money visible in your car, Garbage on the cars is strange (but not an issue), negotiate for the best rate (specials). Overall, we are done with complexes and have a house, but enjoyed bringing out newborn home to this apartment.
