Overall, A Great Place to Live

The units are very spacious, location is great, community is quiet, and it offers easy access to I-40. Lots of parking, well-lit, and the grounds are well kept. Good value for the money, office staff is always very professional, but not always the most efficient. Apartment was in excellent condition upon move-in. Overall I really enjoy living here, but any potential resident should be aware of a few downfalls. First, the maintenance absolutely sucks. There is no other way to put it! Others who say it is great are mistaken or have simply had no issues. The "maintenance men" are mere "backyard mechanics" that are untrained and incompetent. Also, as several others have said, the windows leak. I was informed by the office staff after I moved in and complained that "all of the windows leak." The "backyard mechanics" don't realize that window caulk around the outside of the windows fixes this problem. For some reason they seem to believe that putting sheetrock putty around the inside perimeter of a leaking window is the fix. After complaining for over a week about a leaking window and ultimately telling them how to fix the problem, they caulked around the outside of all 3 of my windows and none of them leak anymore. If you have any maintenance issues be prepared to be persistent or plan to pay to have them fixed on your own. Regarding some complaints about the cable and Internet, the primary service porvider here is Time Warner Cable and there are no problems with speed or service offerings. Do keep in mind that you have to pay the office, rather than the cable company, for cable TV. It is not included in your rent, yet every apartment has it so you are required to pay the office an additional $48/month for cable TV. They don't tell you this, so be prepared to pay the office an additional $48 every month in addition to your rent. They do offer an "all inclusive" living package that could be beneficial depending on your average water and electric bills. Overall, I like my apartment and community and would recommend this community, but caution one of it's downfalls. You will not find a larger, more spacious apartment around. My 2 bedroom is nearly 1200 sqft, 2 large walk-in closets, sunroom, 2 bathrooms, one with double vanities. Large kitchen with plenty of cabinet space space. Intrusion alarm. No major maintenance issues other then the window. The office always notifies you before they come in your apartment; however, maintence does not leave any kind of note saying that they came and repaired your problem. Community feels very safe; you don't find any questionable figures lurking in the shadows. Many people are out walking and jogging even late at night - meaning that they too feel safe. I live on the bottom floor and I NEVER hear my neighbors. I live next to the steps and do hear the occasional person "stomping" their way up the stairs, but this is to be expected. As for resident events, I don't know or care whether or not they host them. The grounds are extremely well kept. (Apparently professional grounds keepers are more important than a competent maintenance staff.) Also, they do sometimes offer move-in specials, but they don't tell you, so be sure to ask. I like it here and provided that I have no other issues with probably stay a few years. I would urge anyone interested in finding a great place to live in the Triad to look at Abbotts Creek rather than wasting time in Greensboro or Winston Salem. Trust me, despite the fact that I have had some issues, I know how be objective whereas many do not. You will have at least a few problems anywhere you go, that's the nature of apartment living. I have paid much more and ended up with much worse. At the end of the day, I can tell you that you will not find a better place to live anywhere in the Triad!
