Looks can be deceiving

We thought the place would be really nice when we signed our lease. It really looks good at first glance. And it seemed OK for the first couple of months, once they finally got the dryer working (after four or five attempts in as many weeks). The staff was generally helpful.
Once we'd been there a while, though, we realized there were some major problems. Noise was one; our upstairs neighbors were into loud, bad music, and it also sounded like they'd installed a bowling alley in the living room.
We started noticing that the neighborhood was getting just plain scary, with gangbanger wannabes and drug dealers roaming around at night, and lots of shouting, loud music from cars, horns, etc. It realy started getting creepy after dark; I'm a big guy and even I was nervous about going out at night.
Of course, management's solution was to order a few pizzas a month and hold a "community watch meeting", which is obviously much cheaper than hiring security.
Management was really big on sending out little notes about satellite dishes, etc., but they weren't so active on other violations, like noise, car repairs, kids running wild, etc.
Parking was a nightmare. Just awful.
The blonde assistant manager who doesn't speak English very well could be pretty awful too.
We finally bought a house and got the hell out of this glorified ghetto. They charged us 25 bucks just to provide our mortgage lender with a rent verification.
I wouldn't rent from Laramar (or in this neighborhood) again if my life depended on it.
