My husband and I became residents at this property three years ago when it was Oakwood Raleigh. After much research with regard to apartment communities in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area, we chose Oakwood Raleigh. At that time, the management was friendly, and most helpful! Problems were addressed immediately and in a friendly and professional manner. The apartments and the grounds were beautifully maintained, and the rent was very reasonable. Since the property has been renamed and taken over by a new management group, the staff has been exceptionally rude, unfriendly, and UNWILLING TO ACCOMMODATE EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE REQUESTS IN A TIMELY MANNER, much less smaller maintenance requests.
A water line recently broke in our laundry room, which caused extensive flooding of both our apartment and our neighbor's apartment. We paged the emergency maintenance staff, who failed to respond for hours. We drove up to the lease office only to find the "OUT ON PROPERTY" sign on the door. We drove throughout the property trying to locate a staff member, with no luck. We kept paging the emergency maintenance staff, and calling the lease office. We FINALLY got through to a lady at the lease office who, once I told her about our situation, cut me off and was somehow immediately able to locate the emergency maintenance crew. When the maintenance staff finally showed up at our apartment, there was quite a bit of flooding in our apartment (and our neighbor's apartment) despite our attempts to prevent as much of it as possible. THEN THE MANAGEMENT CHARGED US FOR HOURS OF EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE TIME, cleaning time for our apartment and our neighbor's apartment, and repair of the fixture that we had nothing to do with breaking! This is one of many examples of the incompetence of the current management at this property. I would STRONGLY advise against ever becoming a tenant there.
