Terrible Experience

My husband and I have lived here for a year and have had a horrible experience, especially in the past 8 months. When we first moved in, the staff was friendly and courteous. Recently, the property has been taken over by new management. We have a whole laundry list of problems:

1) our front door lock broke and we put in a call to the office to have it fixed. We waited over 24 hours, with our front door unlocked to the world, to have it fixed. We had to put in multiple calls to the front office, since no one answered us in a timely manner. While the matter did get resolved, we received no compensation for their lack of attention to the manner.

2) There was flooding on the floor above us, causing our bathroom ceiling to cave in. We called and it was fixed about a week later, after we lived with the smell of rotting dry wall. A few months later, the same problem occurred (which means it wasn't fixed the first time). Again, it took weeks for them to fix and clean up the bathroom. And again, no compensation.

3) The apartment above us had a leak in their laundry room, causing our laundry room to flood. We called the emergency number, but no one came to fix the problem. We had to wait until the next day, with inches of water in our laundry room, for the issue to be resolved.

4) They have assessed all apartments on the property a $10 garbage collection fee EACH MONTH, that is charged on our water bill. There was no explanation of this fee, and I find it hard to believe that their garbage collection bill is that high per month. This is in addition to our rent.

At renewal time, after all this, they still raised our rent $25 a month. While I would love to move, we are planning on getting out of there in the next year and it would be a hassle to move twice in one year. I feel trapped, and they would not negotiate on the price, even after we brought all these problems to their attention. The management is terrible and I would not recommend staying here, unless you want a constant headache of problems.
