Eh... long review
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 1/13/2005
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I want to write the most helpful review I can so it will be long. I only wish someone else had done it before I decided to move. A lot of the negative reviews on here don't offer much info, so to me it seemed like one person got ticked repeatedly posted negatives.
I have only lived here a little while and this apartment does not meet my expectations. What drew me to the apartment first was the fact that it had a view of the Prestonwood Golf Course and the atmosphere of the complex seemed "peaceful".
I did not have the option of visiting the apartment before renting because I lived many states away. I pretty much had to go off the info I found online because the team was not forthcoming with information. I should have been wary then but I was in a rush.
The main problem with the place is noise level. You definitely can hear pretty much anything that your neighbors are doing (as I am sure vice versa). But, that is not as bad as the noise level from the airplanes. It honestly sounds like the landing strip is on top of the apartment building. Most of the noise occurs late at night and early in the morning which is when many people "sleep". The noise is so loud, it makes it very hard to stay asleep.
The second biggest problem is to do with dust. My roommate and I constantly have sinus problems. My apartment is very hard to keep clean. I am not sure what kind of carpeting was put in, but you could vacuum over and over and the fibers still come up. It fills a vacuum bag each time you vacuum and only once over.
Also there is some sort of unidentified pinkish/red spots that grow. They look like little spatters everywhere, but mostly on the fan vent and windows. I clean often so this stuff does not grow out of lack of attention. The pink stuff also appears as a slime on anywhere there is water.
Other gripes are mostly to do with price and size of apartment, but that is what happens when you can't visit an apartment before moving in. I did not realize how small the apartment would be, and for the price I am paying, I really don't think it is worth it. Although, high prices are normal for the area.
Speaking of the area, where this complex is located is a bit out of the way. There is not much to do nearby. Morrisville is quickly growing, but unfortunately its streets are a bit behind and you will almost always end up in traffic due to small roads and lots of cars. So if you are thinking of this apartment complex because you have a job in anywhere but in Morrisville, I would quickly discount that idea. It can take you an hour to get somewhere that is only 15 miles away. Legends of Preston is located off Morrisville Parkway (which isn't all that bad) but with Chapel Hill Road on one end and Davis Drive on the other, you can plan on lots of traffic congestion.
Now for some positives... (yes there are some).
If you are looking for somewhere that seems safe or is in a "quiet area". This complex is great. There was a murder here recently but the incident was completely isolated, drug-related, and nothing like that is the norm. I am never worried about my personal safety. Also, I see the cops drive through various times of the day, which ups the safety factor.
The grounds are well kept. There are people constantly cleaning up. They even have people come in and remove all the dead leaves. The view of the Prestonwood Golf Course is also lovely. Be warned though, not all apartments enjoy a nice view.
Where as the noise of the airplanes are a negative to some, it also means the RDU airport is VERY close. This could be a positive to someone who may fly a lot.
Employees here are very friendly. They aren't always quick with information, but they have never been rude to me.
Overall, this is not the ideal place for me to live. I am sure there is nothing that the complex can do to change noise levels. I do think Legends needs to look into why there is a large amounts of dust and mold spores ('). It is not healthy, it could lead to serious health problems of tenants, especially those with respiratory diseases (asthma, etc.).
My advice to all is visit the complex first. Go a couple times. Check out the traffic, figure out how long it will take you to get to and from work at the appropriate times. Listen for neighbors when going on a walk-through. Check out areas surrounding the complex, especially if you are a very social person. Morrisville area doesn't have much to offer now.
