Well, I've lived at The Oaks for about a year now, and can't say I've ever had a problem. The staff is great, never been anything but professional and friendly. My lease actually just came up this month, and upon checking out other places in the area, I ended up back here. Pretty much can't find anything close to as nice for the money.
This community is always clean, well kept, quiet, safe and the property is beautiful. Can't beat the location either. Sure, there is a bit of traffic in the morning and afternoon, but that's anywhere in the Raleigh area.
I read plenty of complaints about the place before I moved here at the beginning of the year, and from my experience, seems like these "victims" are such by their own hands. If you didn't read your lease, that's your fault. Asking questions about breaking your lease, or fines, or fees, or anything that might cost you extra money, and asking those things before signing your lease is just being responsible.
As far as office staff complaints, never had an issue with anyone. I've dealt personally with the manager on almost every occasion, and she has always been kind and professional. You can't expect these people to be your buddy... it's a business after all, and they have hundreds of tenants to deal with.
Overall, after having lived in 5 different apartment communities, I would definately say this is the best apartment I've lived in.

You will face a lot of problems when you decide to move out of this community. Staff's behavior will change dramatically once you give them 60 days notice and you will never see your security deposit.
