I have been living @ the Oaks for a month now. Lindsay was a pro during the leasing process. To be honest, I did all of my research online through this site first and narrowed down my selection to 3 communities. I visited the Oaks, saw the one unit that was available and didn't bother to visit the other two communities. I have been loving the pool--I usually have it all to myself! The 24 hour gym is great, I don't have to rotate my day around gym hours anymore. Also love the wi-fi and the computers that are available! I feel like I'm living in a condo rather than an "apartment."
I have been annoyed by lazy neighbors that don't pick up their dogs' business, and I feel bad complaining because I haven't been a tenant too long and don't want my first impressions to be as a complainer! I also haven't had a problem with the noise of neighbors, all quiet there. I have been awakened once or twice around 4 or 5 in the morning because of the train. I have noticed sometimes it rumbles through without tooting its horn, and once or twice it just blasts that thing and scares me awake!
One issue I had...when moving in I noticed the army lines of ants outside, which didn't bother me - they can march all day long as long as they don't come in! After living here two weeks I noticed one on the counter, then two...then I came home from work and realized the countertops were MOVING! (They're black and gray speckled countertops.) I sprayed and sprayed cleaners and wiped them up for almost two hours. Thought I got them all, but came home to the same thing the next day. Boggled the mind as no food was out or anything, and they only appeared on the island. So I scrubbed the entire place from top to bottom, purchased ant traps for the island cabinets and applied a clear pesticide gel in corners from Lowes. Within a few hours they were gone and I have not seen once come in since! I'm sure if I would have called maintenance they would have done a great job as I always see them scooting around on their golf carts, but it cost me less than $10 to remedy myself.
I don't care for driving my trash to the compactor either, but c'est la vie.
Having the washer and dryer in the unit is such a blessing.
Great things in the area, all within 5-10 minute drive - movie theater, Neomonde Deli/Bakery, LaFarm Bakery, Bond Park, Crabtree Park, Umstead, downtown Cary, plus you can walk to Asuka for sushi and Lubranos for some pizza!
I love NC and I love the O @ Weston.

Yes, once you sit back and think about all the good things and not just concentrate on the bad things as I admit I do sometimes you do realize that there are so many advantages that out weigh the disadvantages. I am up for a lease renewal and honestly after some negative thoughts and currently looking around I feel at the end of the day this is one of the better places. hmmm...I am so going to have to try Asuka :)
