I am from this area. Yes, it is true that many years ago this may not have been the best place to live, but over the last several years the management has REALLY gone to great efforts for improvement. These efforts have paid off. As I was going through some transitions in life, my first choice was Colony Village. Not because they are the cheapest in rent or most convenient, but because you get the most bang for the buck. Is the location safe' Absolutely. Does the staff give a hoot for their tenants' Absolutely! Is this a place I would feel comfortable raising my children' Absolutely!

I am shocked to read some of the bad reviews listed on this site. I am not shocked to see that the dates of these reviews are from several years ago. Some of the comments are worth paying attention to, but this is not the Ritz. If you want to live in New Bern and pay over a grand a month for the same basic ammenities because a place is brand new that's your business. I think that you get the most bang for your dollar HERE at Colony Village. I have not met anyone in my own building or throughout the grounds that has been rude or unfriendly. Real people live here. I have met some that have lived here for over ten years. That does not sound like something that would happen if these people had the same bad experiences that the folks that have written these bad reviews.

The property has been here long enough that it has mature trees and bushes. The staff makes sure that the lawn is mowed and manicured to a consistant level. I have always walked into the office and been received warmly with a smile. I have made friends here. I would encourage everyone who is thinking about moving to this area, or moving within this area to consider this property. Colony is a wonderful place to live.

I think this person is full of it, I moved out this year due to the management, bugs and safety.. Drug dealers in and out of the complex, the cops are called every week for atleast one domestic violence call. Trust me it isn't worth the time or money to deal with an apartment so poorly managed.
