NO PARTY-ERS, NO MUSIC LOVERS--IT'S GREAT

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
My wife and I moved to Autumn River in December of 2003. We have been very pleased with the property in every way. Maintainance and Management stays on top of things, and the grounds look pleasing.
HOWEVER...if you like to turn up your surround sound or car stero you will not like the response that you will get from your neighbors. This is not the average apartment complex. Most of the people here are over thirty and have families. We are not willing to have the peace of the community destroyed by the "teenage mentality" of the subwoofer thumping "boom-boom" crowd. If that describes you relax. You will fit in just fine at probably 90% of the apartment complexes in Raleigh. The odds are totally in your favor. Just don't come here.
The residents here who have babies expect their child to be able to sleep throughout the day and night without excessive noise from their neighbors. My wife and I love to take a nap on the weekends, and we get to do that at Autumn River because the residents here respect each other. We understand people work different schedules, so there is never a time for one to turn up the surround sound or car stero. Go to almost any other apartment complex anytime on a weekend or holiday and see if that kind of respect is present there. People here are polite and kind to each other. No swearing in the open where kids can hear. But the main thing is that it is quiet.
If you like to play your music in you car or apt. when you want, and at the volumn you want, you will not make it here. Considering how the management just cracked down on dog owners who would not pick up behind their pet, I feel sure that the management would give the customary one or two warnings then ask a noise nuisence to leave the property.
A heads up to those who live elsewhere and have a loud neighbor who needs to be moving along. At the last place I stayed, I found the best way to handle a noisy neighbor was to first turn off everything in the apt. and record the noise coming into my apt. on a video camera. I would put the camera next to the source (wall, ceiling, floor) because a camera mic is not as sensitive as a human ear. Next, I would hide the camera inside my jacket or bookbag and walk past my neighbor's apt. to establish that his apt. was the source on the noise. Then I would call the police to put a stop to it. This would also give me a police report to back me up when I made the formal complaint the next day with the property manager. After I showed her the evidence (videotape and police report) I got the ball moving. Knowing noise makers are usually too immature to change their behavior, the manager asked me to do the same if it happened again. A few more times of doing this and it was "hit the road" for the noise nuisance. Believe me, a police report and videotape put you on the short track to getting peace and quiet back in your apartment. Now back to Autumn River.
In short, if you are quiet, mature and professional you will do fine here. If you are not there yet, don't even think about coming here. If you do, you better hope you don't move into my building. Believe me, the residence and I will work hard at making your stay here a short stay here.
