Kid and Pet Friendly - We love it here

We are going on our second year and are very pleased - we have two kids and two dogs and we try to be as quiet as possible, but after all it is an apt complex and the walls are kinda thin - my boys are very active but very respectful - and the staff and most of the residents have been great - there are a few folks who tend to complain - but I found out they complain about everything - funny thing was they complained about my boys and they were not even in town that week - if you have kids and dogs this is a wonderful accepting place to live. I highly recommend Autumn River!

I moved here from NY in 2006 and was very impressed with the atmosphere and apartments. I brought 5 of my friends from NY to live in the same complex. After 2 years and 5 friends later the complex started over charging my roommate and I on rent. One of my friends mentioned that they hadn't been charged more than their original rent and I brought this to the office's attention. They argued a little but in the end I had enough paperwork and proof to recieve credit for what we had been over-charged. Had it not been for my friend, we wouldn't have known, we just thought our rent went up. Next we recieved a notice of our rent being late... even though at that point they already had our rent, had called me twice that day and said there was no problem and my roommate was home when they casually left the note on the door. They're office was convienently closed for a Christmas Party when they claimed this was late. Not in 2 years had one payment been late, not a single time but just as we thought we'd get our credit, they charge us that amount for having a late rent payment, which wasn't late! When I called them, the letter is signed by Jane. Jane claimed not to know what it was about and that they can't keep track of everyone's payments... so they can't keep track of us getting overcharged up to $30 or what they're names are signed on, but they can keep track of a supposed late payment while their office is closed. That makes sense, not. I refuse to do business with them again and would highly recommend anything other than Equity Residential!!
