I read the review below me, and they are pretty right on. I do not disagree with anything said. The lady in the office is Megan. She is the property manager and is completely fake and a horrible gossip. I honestly do not trust anyone in the office. They are all ridiculous and superficial. The man and woman that live there that deal with the apartment issues are quiet and can come across as rude but the more you get the know them the nicer they are. The Beckanna does have a good maintenance staff.
This is what is going on right now. They have dropped the prices so low that it is getting extremely dark here. Lots of noise, kids and people in the parking lot cleaning their cars. If they want to be trendy, like they so desire they can't stoop to the bottom of the barrel to bring in residents. It is becoming very G*etto. It is actually quite embarrassing. I pay over 800 for a tiny one bedroom and now they are letting G*etto residents move in for 650. It is absolutely ridiculous. This company in no way rewards loyalty and by every previous review you can tell they always raise the rent about 40 percent. I would say to avoid it at all costs at it is slowly turning into Chavis Heights. Very disturbing. They were on the right track at one point and now it seems like they just don't care about who comes in here. Very very low rent residents. These apartments are super loud. I do want to touch on that. You can hear everything. There are always people partying and you can hear every single word if you have a balcony. Every day that you come home from work there is a letter on the door bi*ching about one thing or another. The office is always pestering people. They claim to have a coffee bar but are so completely cheap that they closed it down while some people were promised an "expresso bar" when they signed their lease. They shut the machine down. So cheap. There have been numerous numerous floods. Roof failure, power outages, water line breaks, overflowing toilets, mold, rotten broken ac units. There was a fire on a residents porch about two weeks ago. My boyfriend was walking the dogs and saw flames coming off the porch and the residents were trying to put it out themselves. The beckanna nor the fire department responded. This place has rented to kids and minorities and is steadily going downhill. We are getting out next month thank god. I would not rate my time here as enjoyable by any means.
Office sucks. Small but good kitchens. Big living room and bedroom.
Steel appliances. Small hot water heaters. AC units. No washer or dryer.
Not pet friendly. Parking sucks.

Isn't there anything a resident can do to stop the BS?! I also agree with this posting, the notes on the doors threatening fines every week, although it seems with all of these restrictions at the Beckanna, that it's getting worse and worse. Stephen D. Bell and company may want to re-think things!

This all seems a bit ridiculous to me. We all would agree, I feel, that the real problems of today lie in the inability of ADULTS to take responsibility for their own words, actions, lives etc. It seems to me that the problems posed by the residents all result from a lapse in their responsibility. If you have a dog, it is courteous to clean up behind it because not all residents have pets due to the extreme amount of responsibility that is required to maintain one. Also, we were told at move in that we were not allowed to have pets in the courtyard so if you were fined it was again a direct lack of responsibility on your part. When will people learn that NO actually does mean NO and that real life has consequences which by definition are designed to correct your negligent behavior(s). Much of what is said is not true nor possibly true. This building was built in the 60's so the 8 in. of concrete and steel between each make it extremely difficult to hear your neighbors. The grounds are clean, the pool is clean the other residents are friendly and the office staff is responsible. They deal with problems quickly and this might be why they are disliked. They are easy to deal with and friendly but if you don't clean up behind your animals you will be fined, if you don't pay your rent you will be evicted. This does not make our staff rude, it makes them adults who deal with adult issues in an adult manner so as to keep this property as clean and attractive as possible. If you were allowed to just bum around here then it would become a section 8 property and the type of complaints that are mentioned here would become a reality instead of creative and imaginative narratives from disgruntled residents. Why don't you tour the property and make your own decision? Speak to residents at the pool or at the mailboxes. Drive through the property at various hours of the day and see what kind of people live here. Ask the right questions and come with a list of expectations that you have for the home that you are looking for. If this place meets the expectations then great and if not, then any ADULT would just not sign a lease. People who have yet to grow up still whine about issues (real or not) that were evident all along but they ignored them until they became upset. As for the complaints about the washing system that is located on each floor as opposed to each apartment...did you sign the lease without knowing this, without seeing that these were not in your apartment. Give people a break... a little bit of positive energy might actually attract the right people to this amazing property! Beyond satisfied resident!

If this is your idea of the ghetto...you obviously haven't been through one. Anyway, parking is NEVER a problem, more than enough spaces if your not obsessed with getting a spot right by the front door. The elderly mostly live on the 1st and 2nd floor so if you've got a problem with noise it's ideal...however, some of them have obviously forgotten what being young is and come up with greatly exaggerated complaints. Notes come on doors maybe once a month and none of them have directly affected me...I'm not there 24/7 though. Lived here for a year, flooded right before I moved in, but hasn't since. Only maintenance issue was a kitchen bulb changeout. Ok the coffee machine is never operating...how many jobs have cutback so much you can't get a cup of joe? If you're ranting about coffee you probably need to move out of the Beckanna and into a retirement home. I paid 815 for my first lease, this next one is down to 780. No math wiz but that's not a 40% increase.
