The state of our apartment when we moved in was hellacious. There were things left behind by the previous tennant, almost everything was broken, there were (and still are) stains all over the carpet, they re-painted and got paint everywhere (even the garbage disposal was filled with paint) but luckily fired that company who did the painting right after they painted our apartment...so nice that they waited. The original management was a nightmare. They have switched management and they seem alright so far.

Don't let the prices fool you. It's worth it to keep looking. Yes, the complex is an older one, but the stairs aren't even connected to the buildings properly! Nor are they connected well to each-other and are slanted or loose.

Parking is fine but the spaces are small and even though I have a small car, I fear my car being hit by doors accidentally. Neighbors seem alright, I don't know anyone but they're polite.

They screwed us over on the first month but like I said, they changed management.

They're trying to pretty up the place with grass and plants but the grass is dying from not being watered or when they do water, it's over-watering. Maintenence staff (there's really just one guy) seems nice but there's a screw-drivier stuck in out auxilary fan thing to hold it together. The apartment reminds me of my first car: It worked for a while but was heald together just barely by duct-tape and a mantra of "please don't die, please don't die".

It is a lot better than my first apartment here in Raleigh, where people would regularly relieve themselves on the sidewalk or use the pool as a bath-tub on weekends, and there would constantly be police, ambulances and fire-trucks...and they wondered why I broke my lease and said I didn't feel safe. So I will say that. But if you're just looking to save a few bucks even though you can afford something a bit more, just go for the bit more.
