I am writing this positive review to help balance out the negative ones, since it is usually those with an axe to grind that are the most vocal. Overall, I enjoyed living at Berkshire. The complex in general is well maintained and nicely landscaped. The apartments themselves are nestled away right off of Millbrook. The proximity to everything in north Raleigh is about as good as it can get.

When I moved into Berkshire on Millbrook in 2006 it was called Paces Forest and run under different management. During the crossover period between management companies as Berkshire took the helm, quality of service really took a nosedive. Maintenance requests were frequently ignored and office staff were generally rude. That was the bad... now for the good:

Fortunately the company was able to pull everything together, and the bad apples on the local management team were tossed out. Since mid/late-2007 the complex has been run by a manager named Amie. On the occasions that I had questions or concerns, Amie handled things in a professional, courteous manner. Later maintenance requests were also handled promptly and taken care of correctly... the first time. Quite a change from my previous experience. If you had asked me in the Spring of 2007 whether or not I would recommend this place, I would have said no. The opposite, however, is now true. If I had not bought a house, Berkshire on Millbrook would still be home.
