Current Resident - the good and bad

Well, no place is perfect, but there could be far worse places to live in this town, I know because I looked at many when I was searching for an apartment.
Apartment: Nice touches like a faux crown moulding, doors and archway. The soundproofing is pretty bad on outside walls and floor/ceilings. If people are talking outside of my 3rd floor apartment I can hear them as if they are in the other room. I can also hear my upstairs neighbor urinate and shower, and the ceiling sounds like it's going to fall down when he walks around. This is a major issue for me, and the main reason why I am not renewing my lease is because management does not control noise at night in the pool area. The apartment was clean when I moved in but reaked of smoke, which took months, lots of air freshner and tons of carpet fresh to get rid of.
Staff: Pretty nice and knowledgable for the most part. Maintenance has been friendly and prompt, fixing the problems that I have had within a day or two. The only problem I have is that the pool is 24 hrs. My apartment overlooks the pool (this was not my choice) and I can hear the drunks come home at 2am on weekdays making noise like they are inside my apartment. Management only tells us to call the police when this happens, which helps but doesn't prevent the problem from occurring. After writing a formal complaintto the manager about the pool policy and noise, no action was taken.
Grounds: The staff keeps the grounds nice and neat, but the residents don't. Dog waste is a big problem that management has tried to address with little success. Many residents leave trash outside their apartments even though this is against the lease terms. There is often litter in the breezeways and parking lots.
I think my biggest problem with this complex is possibly the tenant screening. It seems like there is a significant amount of tenants that have no respect for those around them. I even had a package that was delivered to my door while I wasn't home stolen. Someone spit gum out on my car that was parked appropriately in a parking space. People let their kids run unsupervised through the breezeways, in the fitness center, business center, etc. There is a playground on site for children, so I find this behavior uncalled for. People also like to park their cars in places that are not parking spaces at the entrance even though there is more than ample parking. I have seen several apartments that have been sealed by the sheriff since I have lived here (since June 06), leading me to believe that background checks aren't necessarily taken completely seriously when the quota needs to be filled. However, that said, I don't feel unsafe here, and I like my apartment. There aren't people loitering around like I saw at some other places I looked at. I am not complaining, just trying to give an accurate picture. I would recommend Camden Crest to others.

why would you recommend this place? from your description, it sounds awful!! I think my neighbor actually had a meth lab above me because he never worked, was always home, had visitors come and go quickly all the time (the customers), looked stoned when he walked around in the hallways and made odd pots and pan noises in the middle of the night (the manufacturing operation i presume), so not surprised about apartments being closed off by the police..... about the screening and low quality tenants, camden brought this upon themselves, bad service drives good tenants away, the word gets out and they are left with nothing but the rejects..... simple logic right? they deserve it anyway....
