I'm not going to get into too much detail here but here's some positives and negatives I had with Camden Crest
Positives
- I liked the landscaping and the way all the buildings looked - everything looked brand new. When I first saw pictures of this place on apartments.com I thought the place was a hotel I couldn't believe how big everything was.
- My apartment was a 1st floor 1 bedroom and it was in very good condition, very clean, appliances worked great. Make sure to go through your checklist very thoroughly before handing it in...I seriously check every corner in my apartment down to scratches to make sure I am not at fault for anything. I had some issues in the checklist with broken light fixtures - and the technicians were at my apartment that day to fix everything.
- Very roomy bathrooms - lots of storage - big walk in closet - plus a pantry closet in the kitchen and a closet near the entrance - and extra storage on top of the washer/dryer closet. Another closet outside by the deck. Lots of storage here!
- I especially loves the washer and dryer hookups - that was a definite bonus.
- I felt at the time of living there, that my rent was rightfully priced. Considering all of the amenities you get such as the clubhouse and 2 pools, gym, business center, theatre, car wash, I was quite impressed.
- My neighbors were very friendly -- I lived next to an older couple that always greeted me whenever they saw me.
- While I am a big stickler for noise (I had a terrible experience at a previous apartment were this lady had lead feet and she stomped around back and forth all the time - drove me absolutely crazy - and it got worse the more I complained about it) I was very impressed with the sound quality. The only time I could hear the neighbors next to me is when they were cooking or doing dishes in the kitchen since I assumed it was aligned next to my dining room. The dishwashers are kind of loud so that is mostly what I heard. Upstairs - couldn't hear a peep out of those neighbors.
- While this is more of a negative than a positive - I did have an ant problem (obviously being on the first floor) as someone else put on their review - however I just bought some of those ant traps and put a couple in the kitchen and by the slider door, and that literally solved the problem. No need for exterminators and hazardous chemicals folks. Simple knowledge.
- I've read everyone's reviews and how the management wasn't very nice to them. You know some people just come onto these websites to complain honestly, and it's all problems related to their standards, and everyone's standard is different. These are apartments not luxury hotels, you know' With all that said, I think this was one of the nicest management that I have ever dealt with in an apartment complex. They were very quick to help me with any issues, and when I lost my job to layoff and decided to move back to my hometown in another state, they were more than gracious to offer a helping hand in the process and everything went smoothly. Maybe if some of these people with negative reviews would have confronted management in a nicer tone, you would have had your issues resolved quicker.
Now onto the negatives...
- The one thing that I disliked the most (and as everyone else here mentioned) was the hidden "cable bill." Camden Crest thought it was a great marketing scheme to say "We give you free cable television!" when really all they do is tab up an extra 40 dollars a month to your rent. I had asked management multiple times if I could just not have tv because I personally didn't need it - they told me no and refused to take it off my rent. I didn't even have a tv in my apartment.
- I lived there at the time the Trash Valet service was introduced...so since it was a new thing, all those who had current leases didn't have to pay for the extra 30 dollars a month on your rent until your lease is up for renewal. I knew that I was not going to end up living there after renewal because with the extra 30 dollars a month for trash service I then thought the place was a little bit too pricey. My rent was 675/month and it really would have been 635 if I could have the cable fee removed - and then with trash valet added it would have been 665 and I could have handled that. So if you have the money to pay for this kind of rent - you would find this service useful for you. If you are getting this place knowing that you can't really afford it - you may want to reconsider
- Before moving out I had some new neighbors come in who apparently was into smoking pot. The odor came through the halls outside and sometimes into my apartment. The other neighbor next to me said she made a complaint to management, but nothing was apparently done about it. So I apparently moved out in time.
- There were a few times during the summer nights when someone in the other complex building next to mine (which I could see out through my window) were having all night parties - people screaming and music blasting through the windows...and at one point saw a few kegs sitting out on their decks. Nothing was apparently done about it because they continued to have these parties throughout the summer. I would suggest investing in noise-cancellation headphones and jamming some music.
- I wish the mailboxes would have been a little bit closer. There's plenty of space in the little halls to have these mailboxes for everyone, but I guess that would give the postman a little extra work to do. Oh well.
- Parking was a big problem. They had too many handicapped spaces in some parts (although I'm sure they had to do this by law) and it seemed like it was so hard to find a place to park. I'd sometimes have to go in the other complex's parking lot just to find somewhere to park.
- While I did like the landscaping and the look of the place...I will warn those who are reading this review - this complex in general is a complete maze. I could never invite my friends over to come hang out without calling me and saying I'm absolutely lost. I couldn't even get a taxi to get here properly. However, my complex was in the very far back - with winding roads with parking lots on both sides - I would consider that to be quite a hazard.
- Being on the first floor - I also had a spider problem. Spider's constantly every night I was killing - and they were really big and fast moving...there's nothing like reading a book while noticing something moving on the floor across your eye. BLECH.
- Parking lots were not lit properly...very dark sometimes - and didn't feel very safe.
So all in all - as my title says - this was an ok place to live. I love the square footage and all of the closet space you get in this place, but the experience I guess will be a bit different for everyone else...and I suggest anyone to not really fall too heavily on these reviews - and to do your research and tour each apartment extensively that you go through. Happy hunting!

Again - as I stated - some people are just on this website to basically moan and groan about their terrible time at any complex. If you're so unhappy - why did you rent? And as I also said - not everyone will have the same experience. Anyone with a 2nd grade reading education could have noticed that with my review.

I thought this was a very fair review. I have lived here for 1 year, and I'm generally pleased. I have never had a single issue with the office staff, and I have never had a single issue with noise. I have also had a slight bug problem, but nothing too overwhelming that I felt I needed an exterminator or anything like that. And, the big downer is the parking, otherwise, I have enjoyed my stay. I agree that too many people are on here just whine, and I think most of the time the problem is their own fault.
