I've been living here for nearly 4 years and must say that it seems like the place is pretty decent. About every other year there is a string of break-ins which seems to occur to all of the apartment complexes in the NCSU area.

Facilities- well kept; however, they have raised rent to pay for a 'porter'...they didn't have to mention what the rent raise is for, but they did. So that's a plus. Also, they hire a crew to come out and keep the place looking nice, they do a good job. Trash isn't typically an issue unless there are parties going on during the weekend (a frequent occurrence during the school year).

Noise/Parties- In the past, these have created a lot of loud nights from Thursday-Saturday and the occasional exam night when people forget that not everyone finishes exams after the first three days. However, this has luckily been curbed in the past year or so. Police have been out several times due to complaints, but that's to be expected...if it bothers you, call the police, they respond quickly and you get results.

The fire alarm also has been known to go off at horrible times...typically because someone pulls it...for no good reason. This occurs at least once, if not twice a semester. The one quirky thing about the alarm is that there is a fire station within a 10 minute walk (which will be made painfully evident as at least 2 fire trucks are deployed/day) from the Village complex, yet it takes at least 20 minutes for them to respond.

Management- There was a change in management within the past 2 years which brought in mediocre changes. Typically, the office staff was friendly and easy-going; however, very helpful, as of late, they tend to be a bit harsh at times and not very communicative to their residents. This is a netural mark for them.

Maintenance- Haven't really had to used them as most of our appliances worked fine. There was an occasional time when the A/C would leak on the walls/floor below and they would simply come over and begin fixing things w/o alerting any of the individuals in the apartment of their intentions, but they get the job done. About every 4 months or so they change the air filters and powerwash the breezeways. Unfortunately, this causes the door thresholds to swell and makes everyone require slamming their doors for a couple of weeks. Overall, Maintenance is a plus.

Amenities- There is a shuttle bus for Ridge renters and the Village (down the street) apartments are on the wolfline which is VERY convenient for them. There is a gym, tanning bed, and 'lounge' area in the leasing office; however, you'd be better off going to State for the gym facilities. There are events every so often for 'both' complexes; however, these are typically more beneficial for Ridge renters.

Mail- This is probably one of the worst aspects of this complex. The mail is handled by a postal forwarding service which is horrible. Packages tend to be left at the office w/o any notice given to residents, so you basically have to track everything down online to be sure it was delivered. Sometimes, even multiple calls yield no results...this is the forwarding service, not management.

Rent payments- this can be done in person (by check only) or online (check or credit card); however only users must pay a 2.50 e-check processing fee and a 32 dollar (using visa, last time I checked) credit card processing fee...so if you go over, you're better off going to the office and dealing with them in person.

Parking- tends to fill up on the party nights and if you don't display your pass well, they will tow you (multiple times in a weekend if you're not careful) One fellow resident had his car towed 2x in one weekend and he had been a resident for years..the tow truck company stated that an apartment complex across the street (but not visible to the vehicle) had complained about HIS car...what in the heck is up with that'! If you want guests to come over, they better carpool and park before 6 pm on 'party' nights; otherwise, nobody is getting a space without fearing their vehicle will get broken in across the street.

Police presence- expanding on earlier, they typically use the apartment entrances as speed traps for Gorman and Avent Ferry...when this happens, there will be no less than 4 police vehicles parked in line waiting for people...BIG plus, unless you're a speeder.

Safety- There is semi-adequete lighting in the lot; however, these lights tend to malfunction and will go black when you walk outside....not very reassuring and a BIG negative.
