You get what you pay for! :-/

First of all, I'll give credit where it's due.
1. The rates are really great for the Olde Raleigh area.
2. The maintenance was great for my many calls and handled in a timely manner.
3. The manager has been there longest and her knowledge always shows as opposed to the frequent, constantly changing new girls. She's beyond friendly and tries her best.
4. I was advised to expect management changes from a prior resident who experienced 2 in one year, but the latest owners are trying hard. They did add new roofing and RENOVATED (new linoleum, laundry room appliances if you need those, drink machine) the clubhouse but it is not NEW as stated by another review. However, when I was leaving a notice had come out about having to pay for an access card which I think should've been included in rent. No one should have to pay for a card to enter their OWN club house.
5. Reserved spaces are great though the smallest 2br only gets 1 spot I believe.
Now the downside... things that aren't personal "gripes" and could affect the whole community:
1. I had to buy about $25 worth of products to do additional extermination for roaches (open cabinets on your visit). I think it had to do with the old, cheap cabinetry as they were only in the kitchen and bathroom.
2. There is an extreme draft from the sliding doors (LR and BR) and another under the door which will probably affect your electric bill.
3. Unless you're on the bottom, expect any smells (smoke may bother nonsmokers) to come up through the patio floor as there are spaces between the boards.
4. Lighting can be very dark and unfortunately the motion light did not always come on when I parked. I don't think after dark was totally bad but I always had pepper spray in hand. With recent landscaping attempts, they have cut down lots of the trees in front of apartments. Single women may experience some discomfort after dark.
5. As for drugs, I did go to my car once and could smell pot coming from the cracked windows of a neighbors car as he sat and enjoyed his marijuana.
6. During pressure washing, I had a worker wet the inside of my apartment at the entry due to cracks around the door and the half inch space (that permitted the draft) under my door. I of course had to clean it up.
7. I've had my car nearly towed (up on the truck) though caution lights were clearly on. You don't see two trucks going around picking up cars around town that have caution lights on around town. Luckily, I came out in time to demand he remove it, which he did since he knew he was wrong.
8. Diversity is great, race, ages, etc. but there is a high number of families living here so it may not be the place for someone who enjoys lots of peace or single professionals. The bus stop is at an entrance, and unfortunately the chidren don't respect a moving vehicle enough to stop playing in the road to let you in.
9. I've seen glass on the ground of a truck from an obvious breakin. I always removed my CD faceplate and never had a break in.
10. There was just one dumpster which you won't want to walk to at dark so bank on driving there and it's not on the way out.
11. Not enough light fixtures: There were no overhead lights in my apartment and had to buy lamps.
12. Additionally, there is just a deadbolt and chain. The turning doorknob doesn't lock but you can choose to install one. I guess with the latter disappointments I should have chosen to live elsewhere. I stuck it out but was honestly ready to move the 4th month.
I obviously moved as soon as my lease was up. Don't expect to get a renewal notice or potential prices BEFORE you have to turn in your 60-day notice. Go ahead and find a new apartment, or expect to pay market price for one month extra if you wait on the renewal prices (which they claim is a 'favor') before turning in your notice. But without the prices, how will you know if you want to stay' Anyway, overal okay but you get what you pay for. If you're big on customer service (since Tiffany is only 1 of 4 office staff and thus a minority) or an overall knowledgeable staff, this isn't the place for you.
