Love this place

I will miss living here when these units are removed, the property has an "old soul" quality to it, with many huge pin oak trees that make the courtyard shady. Reasonably priced apartments with attractive interiors that you don't often find these days, and with ample, lighted parking. Very safe area to live in and to jog in. The staff has also always been very responsive to my maintenance requests & have actually asked if I needed light bulbs changed! Nice neighbors many seniors. Within walking distance to several nice quality restaurants and groceries, namely Cameron Village. I would certainly continue to rent if allowed. The one thing I miss is having my own washer/dryer unit inside the apartment. The 2 bedrooms often have the hook ups, but the one bedrooms, as I understand it, do not. The on-site facilities are nice and clean with like new washer/dryers and you can feel comfortable leaving your clothes unattended. I have left many things outside my apartment without anyone taking them this says quite a bit about the other tenants and people living in the area.

Don't all those roaches and rats bother you?

Roaches and rats? Please. Palmetto bugs yes, but they are manageable. Rats? Gimmie a break.
Now to seriously respond to the post yes it causes dispair that such a reasonably priced, well located apartment complex with old fashioned character and style such as Country Club Homes is slated for demolition.
Why is it being torn down? Because no one wants to live here because of imagined and exaggerated flaws expressed by a few malcontents on this ratings board? No. I'm not saying CCH is perfect, but all and all it has plenty to offer those of us who rent here, which you the original poster covered well. CCH is being torn down because it's just too modest and modestly priced as ITB real estate has appreciated so much lately that only mid and high-end town houses and luxury apartments makes sense for such land as CCH is on from an economic point of view. Good luck to you whereever you are moving to.
Finally I Pledge and Affirm by Saint Joseph Patron Saint of the Joe Six Packs of the world (close enough to many who live in CCH) I'm not connected with ownership/management of CCH.

Last I heard Spring 2009 the demolition is to begin, but it will be phased. With the economy tanking though tear down might be being delayed.

I did live in CCH for 5 years and loved it, but I did have rats in the apartment twice and mice twice. I am not exaggerating about that. It's a shame that the apartments weren't maintained better in the foundations to avoid that happening. I really liked living there, but you could tell near the end of when I was living there (2007) that the exterior maintenance was slipping.
