A so-so place to live

I've been at Walnut Creek for one year. My lease will be up next week. I have liked my stay at Walnut Creek but there could definitely be some improvements. First of al, the pool area is not watched over AT ALL! People bring their screaming kids on the weekends and quite a few shady characters show up at the pool on a regular basis. I can assure you that they don't live in the complex. It makes me a bit uncomfortable to go to the pool area because of the people that seem to arrive on the weekends. When I first moved in I had roaches in my apartment. I had to call the office a few times before they agreed to "bomb" my apartment. I still see a couple of spiders from time to time...The maintenance people are very pleasant to deal with. Within 24 hourrs, someone usually comes by and fixes the problem (leaky faucet, heat broke in the winter time). However, I would appreciate some sort of paperwork left in my apartment since I live alone and don't want random people waltzing into my apartment (I don't care if they work there, it's the professional thing to do). Don't expect any community events, there will be NONE. It is a huge complex and it would be nice if they could organize an event or do something nice for the residents. The office staff is ok to deal with. I only deal with upper management and one of the office staff in particular. There is one female worked who is most unpleasant. I refuse to speak to her for the following reason. The front door to my apartment wouldn't shut or lock late one night so I called the front office the next morning and requested someone come fix the issue becasue my safely was compromised. She RUDELY said someone would be on their way within an hour to fix it. I waited 2 hours and no one came. I had to leave my apartment door ajar because I had to go to work. Thankfully, when I came home the door was fixed. There was no service order left. I would hope that they would take the matter of a resident's safety a little more seriously over staying in the front office to answer the phone. Overall, my stay has been ok. There are certain areas of the complex to avoid but the buildings in the back of the complex are quiet. I am relocating but I wouldn't sign another lease at this complex. Be careful and definitely make friends with the office staff...you'll need it.

Im just roaming thru here looking for a place to live and I have to say about your review, the following:
1. You dont want "random" people in your apartment, as no one does, but if you did call for repairs then the maintenance people arent random are they?
2. You talk about "shady" people at the pool and screaming kids, well, youre a renter and thats what we all get for being renters, it sucks but kids do scream! As for shady characters, my guess is this is meant toward a certain race, which is just wrong if it is. If you ever saw anything shady then you can complain but if you just assume they are not residents there then you dont know for sure so youre pretty much spouting off about what you dont even know. Sorry if this seems rude, Im looking for a place to live and Im sick of all the comments on many places Ive read about all because someones guessing, not KNOWING. Facts are the only things to put on this site, not what we all guess at.
3. If you want a community event, you should plan one! I hate when people whine over whats missing yet they do nothing to change it. Bottom line, just state whats good and bad about the place. Them not finding you something to do on your nights off and no date are not their problems!!! You sound like the type of person who whines about a president but doesnt bother to vote!
You say your stay has been okay but Im seeing only whining and about things you couldve changed. If they didnt fix the door then you should have demanded a manager come stay by your door while youre gone, they HAVE to do that for your safety.
