This property is approximately 18 years old and is definitely beginning to show it?s age. Several apartments in the complex have water stains in the ceilings, the appliances (stove and refrigerator) appear old and have definitely seen better days. The kitchen and bathroom cabinets are less than ideal quality, they?ve got a veneer front that is constantly needing refinishing. The countertops in the kitchens are peeling apart underneath. The walls separating the apartments are thin and my husband and I have to watch "whisper vision" in our bedroom in the evening or else our neighbor bangs on the wall because she can hear our tv. In the spring and summer there are a lot of ants and there have been a few residents that have had to have snakes taken care of in their front walkways in one portion of the complex. The "exercise trail" they advertise in their ad is a paved path through a wooded area of the property that is poorly maintained, has bushes and vines growing over the path and the wooden equipment that is on this trail has poison ivy growing near a few of the pieces. During the economic downturn this complex has remained one of the highest priced for their 3 bedroom layout. When the manager was asked about this, the response was simply that we paid for location. With the age of the property and the competition from newer complexes with more activities, better staff and amenities, you would think that they would be willing to go the extra mile for their residents and prospective residents. After some further research, the company that owns this property (Drucker & Falk) also own a property called Sumter Square which is the feature at apthorrors.com. The management of that property also seems to show the same level of care and concern for their residents that we've experienced here at Edwards Mill.
