Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
I lived at Fairgate for two years plus. In this time I had countless negative experiences with the office staff and never found any resolution to my issues. After time I just gave up and let the issues drop as it was consuming too much of my time. Upon move out, even though the office staff commended me on the pristine condition of my apartment, erroneous charges were still applied to my deposit balance. I know these charges to be made-up as I chose to change apartments (floor plans) after my first year there, and upon closing out that location this charge was not applied although ?pet damage? in the way of the carpets was. Upon my evacuation of the second apartment I was commended by the office staff and even asked what I put on the carpets, as it appeared that I did not even have dogs (2). However they did come up with a charge for something called a ?smoke bomb? supposedly to eliminate the smell of cigarette smoke. I have never heard of this charge before, nor was this charge applied to my first apartment in Fairgate or any other place I have rented. In short, you will end up paying for SOMETHING when you move out. It may not be much, but it will be something.
Furthermore, upon hearing of my intentions to move out of the community, four of my adjacent neighbors also decided not to renew their lease as the quality of the neighborhood was rapidly decreasing. They mentioned to me that they ?no longer felt safe in Fairgate? and that after living there for many years, one of them for five, they felt it was time to move on. I am of the opinion that you can do better if you take your time and shop around. Happy hunting.
